I rented a house that has two pellet stoves in it and while they work great for the most part there is no manuel for them. I notice on the top of each in the front there is a place that has what looks like a rising or setting sun. I assume that this is a place that you can put water but am hesitant to pour water into this area. Would be my luck that I am totally wrong and would end up drowning the entire system. Am I correct in what this is or am I totally off base in this assumption? A little knowledge can go a long way here!!
:ahhh:

DON"T pour water into anything!!! There is no pellet stove that I know of that uses water in any way.

Get some more info about the stoves (name plates on back, or under hopper lids), and/or take some pics and post them here if you need help.

Manuals for most pellet stoves are available online.

See macman, I was right a little information does go a long way. The pellet stove was made by Sherwood Industries Ltd. The only other info I can get is Warnock Hersey with the numbers WH-2890 on it. It was just a thought that the area on top was a place to have water that put humidity back into the air. I've been looking for days and can't find any info on it at all. Guess I have to keep looking.

Well, that's a start. Sherwood ind. makes the Enviro line of stoves. From what you said, I'm guessing that both stoves are the same?

Here's the website....take a look and see if anything looks familiar.

BTW, any info on the control panel?

Pics will help the most right now.

My EF3 has that pattern on the front above the heat exchanger. Definitely not meant to hold water.

The model should be on the control panel and also under the hopper lid.

Do you have two dials on the right? One for the fan and one for the auger with a switch for the ignitor?

I'm more than happy to share any cleaning tips. Definitely look to clean out the ash traps if you haven't already done so. On either side of the burnpot there are circular covers held in by a flathead screw. You want to get all the ash out with an ash vac - or search this forum for how to modify a shop vac so that you don't fill the house with ash!

Macman

Ecoteck has stoves that you can put water on the top of them or scented oils. They call it a Amibient Humidifier. Works great!

dang! what kind of landlord would make the investment in TWO stoves and wouldnt give the tenant a crash course in how to run and maintain the pellet stove?!

Yea, what mac said! DONT put water anywhere!

After Estarrio said the top looked like his EF 3, I looked at one online, and sure enough it has the "rising sun" pattern in the top. I'm pretty sure that's what the OP has 2 of.
