Need Advice: I want to temporarily install until I am satisfied that I like where stove is located before I make cuts and install correct. I want to remove window, frame in opening and use DuraVent thru-the wall kit with DoubleWall for now. This locates the stove close to where I plan to make final install thru ceiling if satisfied. What I want to know is if I can get by with not all insulated pipe on outside of house, as I need to make angle to avoid overhang at this point. It will look funny, but I want the trial, then if happy, I do full install. Stove is England NC 13, and will not be at high heat, we don't get that cold here. I will never push it at all. Also, how much flue length is necessary? This looks to be 6 feet insulated to get outside to verticle, then I can use another 3 feet insulated before it gets funny. Then there would be bends and singlewall... There would be plenty of clearance. I would appreciate any help.

Sounds like a lot of work, expensive parts that might not get reused and possibly dangerous if it becomes a temporary permanent installation. What is the worst thing that happens with the ceiling install if you don't like the location? Patch the ceilng and roof?

Single wall pipe outside will cool the smoke and cause creosote build-up.

the thing about temproary is often it becomes permanent.....

Yes, but I am wanting a KING, and with enough aluminum cans, that will be before next year....that will change everything, so I am scared to commit anyway. I might like the England here, or not...or decide to try use both. I am very careful about cutting holes in house I built with own hands...

Go down to the local appliance store and get a washer or dryer box. Cut it down to the King's size. Paint it black and put it in the location. See how you like it.

Don't bother cutting it...pretty much close enough. Shape is about right as well.

I kinda sorta tried to do this. I've got a barrel stove in my shop that I tried to vent thru a window. I used 2 90*s, some single wall, and a sheet of concrete board to go through a window after I removed the sashes. It never drafted right and I basically just wasted my time. I eventually just ran it through the ceiling with a double wall kit and now it runs as well as a barrel stove can. And I can upgrade to real stove later when I find 1 for free or less.
I understand what you're trying to do but I would just install it permanently in the spot where you think it will work best.
However, I do remember seeing pics of somebody's install through a window opening using a thimble. Maybe they will post up or you will be able to find them with a search.

Begreen, does the King require a specific brand/color of stove paint? And which brand of washer? Should it be energy star rated? Your sarcasm could be more precise.

Don't tell that to the parlor model owners.
