I have a P61 a Harmon and there is a squeaking noise coming from the intake box where the fan is. I completely removed the box and fan and motor and cleaned all of it out. Using the Allen wrench I removed the fan from the shaft and gave it a shot of WD 40 and resembled the whole thing. Amazingly the squeak went away...But...It's back. After 12 hours. Is it possible that the shaft on the motor is warped? Or the fan itself?.. or even the bit screw that holds the fan onto the shaft? When she does squeak now I give it a shot of the WD-40 and she's good to go for a while. What Am I missing? I've had this stove since 05 and it's my main source of heat in the house, which was all electric. I really like this stove. Any ideas before I start replacing part by part? Thanks.

Does it only squeak when the auger turns or all the time?

I'm pretty sure it's not the auger. It's the fan in the intake box. By putting a little pressure on it as it spins the squeaking stops. I've heard the auger squeak at times with very hard pellets but this fan noise is a continuous squeal.

Sounds like the fan needs lube. The WD-40 worked for a bit, But doesn't last. Try some 20w 3 & 1 motor oil in the blue can. Or some 20W synthetic oil.

There is no fan in the intake box.......which fan is it? theres the combusion fan on the lower right of the stove (facing from the back), theres a big distribution fan in a black housing on the lower left, and theres the gearmotor fan mounted on, well, the gearmotor.

Thanks Master of fire, I would say from your description that it's the distribution fan. The box shaped like the letter G.The Fan itself is shaped like a tin cup with slatted blades.

cool beans! is the fan clean, or is there alot of pet hair, kid hair, wife hair, and dust bunnies on it? An uneven accumulation can unbalance the fan and cause noise as well. You can try to lube the shaft and it might quiet it down for the time being, but we've found that this is basically a bandaid treatment and will only work for a short time. If the stove is still under warrantee, call your dealer and get a new one, or think about replacing it.......

Yes Sir,
I took the whole assembly off and apart and washed it shiny new. Replace...I was afraid of that. But what should I replace? The fan, motor, shaft? I'm just hoping to keep her going till april or so. Of course this has to happen before our first big snowfall of the year! Sheesh!\

the whole housing is the replacement part....fan, motor, housing, all in one!

Maybe it's

???

Or it could be the auger shaft, which was previously mentioned....
