New to the site, but I have been reading for a while. Great information.

I finally decided on my pellet insert, Quadra Fire, Classic Bay 1200. I saw a bunch of recent posts with this exact stove and I cannot wait for the install next week.

Looking forward to enjoying a nice cozy room, while supplementing my oil heat.

Question: Has anyone ever used Firestarter pellets? I searched, but could not find that brand..

welcome. nothing burns like a quad.
never used firestarter pellets, sorry.

Welcome to the forum, Pav1.

As for your question, are you sure you don't mean Lignetics pellets? They say "Firestarter" on the upper corner of the bag.

Thanks CC.

BTW, how's winter going up in the wilderness?

Do'in great mac.... been really sunny lately....great for walking after work.... was -28C here this morning ......Brrrrrrrr but warmed up to -9C around 4 PM. Days are getting longer though and sun has more noticeable heat in it.... feel for the folks snow bound on the eastern seaboard. Not much snow here to speak of....just enough to keep the septic fields from freezing...... how u makin out this winter?? .......cc

Good! Got the 10-cpm dialed in finally (read that as "leave it alone and use factory settings, dummy!....they know more than me...LOL).

Burned a ton of CleanFires and found out that their only a shoulder season pellet (good thing there's 2 shoulders in each season....I have 3 tons left!!). Have last years left over Lignetics hardwood in the stove for the past 1 1/2 weeks, and have HEAT!! Amazing the difference a good pellet makes.

So, how's my pellet chest coming along? Must be putting that last coat of finish on it by now, right?

Hey Pav1........ sorry, forgot to say 'Welcome!!' and hope you will enjoy the new stove when its installed.... keep us in the loop with pics once you get it in and running....... cc :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone...it will be going into my ZC fireplace that is probably 20 years old and every efficient..I like wood heat better, but the convenience and efficiency of pellet is amazing. My wife and I work a lot, so if I went with wood I would probably only fire the thing up once or twice a week..

With the pellet, it will run 24x7..ah, the beauty of technology.

As for the Pellets, they are definitly called Firestarter..I will take a picture of the bag..I cannot find anything about them.. A local hardware store said they are "the best pellets he has ever carried", but then again I have never met someone selling pellets who said "these are the worst pellets I ever carried". Before I buy my first ton, I have been picking up a few bags from different places, Lowe's, Wal-mart, hardware stores, etc.. and will pick the best burners... I have a guy selling Treecyle for $225 a ton, but I have not read great things on here about them.

Welcome PAV1, remember to watch it when these two get together.

I do hope that you have the proper license to have polar bear based products in your possession and that your family is provided for if the other polar bears decide to exact revenge. I heard rumors that my Canadian Cousins were planing a raid on a pellet burner. Thought you should know, maybe you can get out of town quick.

Well, I just checked..Pellets are actually called FireMaker..Anyone have good/bad experiences?
