Good day, Just wonder IF anyone here is from in and around Halfax/Dartmouth area here in Nova Scotia????

I am looking for someone I can deal with for parts and service that I can Trust .....

My auger motor feed speed works fine no matter what number I turn it too, However the Blower fan for the room if I turn it up at all from the low setting...The speed increases but then the motor seems to lose power and the fan rattles etc etc..

I have had the fan checked seems ok, Not sure where to go from here etc etc..? Any help wd. be appreciate thanks alot....

I would look at your control board, Mine went bad and it turned out to be the part that controls the fan speed. New board and all is good :)

Yeah... Maybe thats what it is, Wonder though if its just the Bd. not giving full power I can by pass whatever and run the fan on high speed direct or something....Who Knows just trying to save from spending big bucks on something , and the bucks not there to spend on it...

Thanks

If you need a board, I have a refurbed board that came with a stove I purchased recently. It was tested to make sure it works properly, and I'd like to get $175 for it.

If the motor on that blower has oil ports SAE 20 weight oil or 3 in 1 blue and white can will likely free up things so it spins properly provided the fan itself is clean.

Convection blowers frequently get loaded up with crud and that will cause them to both slow down and sometimes stall or go into thermal shut down.

Just one more thing to check.

No I had taken the convection motor out and cleaned and oil fine ,When I hook up direct to say a wall plug with a couple of wires the fan works as smooth and fast as new...But when I reinstal it in the stove...On low the fan works fine motor is good.. But once I turn the fan speed up its like it loses power some what and the motor styarts to rattle and makes alot of noise...

So keeping it on slow while hooked up in the stove atleast gives me Heat... Only thing I notice while installed in the stove and on low... don`t matter what speed I turn the feed auger motor on.. Lets say the fan is turning at say 500 rpms.. it creeps up lets say to 700 or 800 rpms back and forth dies and then speeds up all the time.. and If I turn the fan speed up while like I said the motor rattles etc etc...

So for now I will leave on slow speed atleast i have HEat so this much be a control borad problem or ???

Thanks

Let me try this again, running the fan on direct 120 outside the stove isn't the same as running it inside where the temperature is higher and the electrical environment is different (controller vs direct connect).

It is very much a possibility that the controller is the problem.

It is also possible that the bearings still are not properly lubricated or are dirty, if that is the case with the additional heat inside the stove shell the motor may slow down and then speed up depending on the actual bearing temperature.

If the blower isn't freely spinning (outside the stove, via hand) then I'd suspect the blower motor, if the blower is freely spinning then I'd suspect the control electronics.

The control electronics can be checked with a DMM provided you have a listing of the required voltages that should be present.

Yes the motor with the squirrel cage attached spins free as new no binding, rough spots etc etc.. when ya say DMM provided you have a listing of the required voltages that should be present.

Any ideal where I can get these specs for this stove etc?
Thanks

I seem to remember a member (Dave Gault IIRC) who has a collection of service manuals he has this place WoodHeatStoves.com his handle here is Wood Heat Stoves .

Thanks I`ll give that a try....

pm me with your email adress and i'll email you the service manual
once you have completely reviewed it, and if you are still having troubles, you can email me directly thru our website

just re-read your OP,

remove the fan, and see how it runs during a bench test to see if the blower needs replacing
