This is to inform everyone that Carl is no longer at AHS. This means that they don't have any good tech support because he was it. He knew their equipment inside and out and I'm sure many of you were helped from him.

I believe Patrick left & now Carl? Patrick was also very knowlegeable to talk to, Randy

I was afraid of this since new ownership took over last spring.

Thanks, didn't know if it was a company I have delt with before or not. I thought it could have been alternative heating supply.

Do you have plenty of snow on the ground?

The new owner is what I call a business flipper. He has had 11 different companies in the last 20 years. His last company made trailers. He has no experience in the heating field at all. At least Jeff (the owner before) went out and actually worked on his equipment and knew how it worked. I know they have gone from 33 people working to around 7 or 8 now.

We've had almost 40 inches so far for winter 09-10. Probably about 15 inches on the ground now but hard to tell with the 60+ mph winds. Good reminder of what winter can be like around here, its been a while.

Carl had expressed his displeasure with the new owners to me while helping me work through a minor problem. He was great to work with, can't say enough good things about him.

I'm a bit nervous now though...I wonder if I should determine what parts are proprietary and order some to keep in stock for the future? I think I still have Carl's personal telephone number and may just give him a call tonight.

I'm predicting you're going to be OK. If they want to stay in business they are going to need to address the needs of the customers. If they do a bad job, they will need to sell the business for pennies on the dollar to someone who might care and make the necessary improvements like slowing the air flow to prevent brick erosion. In order to do this, they will need to add a port for secondary air, which I think would be easy to do. They need to design the doors like on the Polish boiler to take the heat load off the door gaskets. They have a good base to start from. The unit is built tough.
With a little research and help from members on this forum you'll be able to make your own center bricks. Mark at AHONA has some sources for ceramic. The rest of the unit is a bunch of off the shelf parts.
I say, make sure you have return water temp protection, run real hot fires, get yourself some storage to make that happen. I believe the fan will run forever.

BTW, they need to replace the statement "needs no storage" to "storage is recommended".

Just picked my E-100 on Jan 22. Talked to Carl then and didn't sense a problem. O well life goes on. Looks like Darren maybe the go to man.
