Earmuff radio recommendations?

I have the stihl radio am fm it picks up the stations I listen to. but probally made by Peltor

I have a "racing radios" got at a NASCAR race years ago and I have a couple buddies with the AO Smith models and the reception on all of them leaves alot to be desired. best solution we found is a good little MP3 player with earphones and then regular muffs over that. The nextar mp3 gets quite good reception and many other also get good recption. Then again if your cutting with several other people it might not be a great idea to crank up the tunes so that you can't hear your buddies.

Like you, I was going to get the Peltor earphones until I read the reviews. Instead I bought a set of JVC earbuds that fit into your ear like the disposable ear plugs. I wear these under my muffs using my MP3 player and could not be happier.

I have had good luck with the sony srf-m37w. It is a mini weather/fm/am radio. I keep it in my pocket and use earbuds under hearing protectors. It goes for days on a single AAA battery. The first one lasted over 4 yrs. of daily use. Abt. 30 bux at wally world.

I've been using the 'Peltor II worktunes' for awhile and absolutely could not live without them...seriously I would die and shrivel up. They're am-fm, think I paid 80 for them but I dunno...somewhere in the gear section I wrote 'em up. I'm seen 'em since on Amazon for much less but I got my at our local dealer.

Yeah with AM a high revving CS can create interference.

I was told you could get a 'resistor' plug to diminish AM static. You might require it with the chain saw although I don't use one in mine...still though it's nice to know one can always escalate.

While I still enjoy the Peltors with the saw...that's like -5% of the time of all my small equipment time use.

Don't know if this will work with your radio, it looks too big..... I put my MP3 player on a sweatband and wrap the cord for the headphones around the band so everything is on my head. I got tired of having the headphone cord in the way, if I ran it outside my shirt it would get tangled in the brush, if I ran it inside my shirt (or jacket in the colder weather) I would be fighting with the cord when I turn my head. An additional benefit I found, I can pull the ear buds out and let them hang when I want to hear what is going on around me. It's a little strange to wear a sweatband under your hat in the winter, but it works for me.
