Hi Everyone,

I poked a hole in the inner heat shield of my Buck 21. I was surprised it was as soft as it was. At any rate, my local Buck dealer quoted me a prcie of $33 plus I get stuck with shipping to them so I can go pick it up. I figured I mine as well see if I can replace this board with something a little more durable while I was going tot he effort. I'm thinking Isofrax or something similar...mybe from a ceramic supply place.

I'm envious of my Dad's firebricks on the top of his stove. I know someone out there has been down this road. Any thoughts?

You can path the hole with Rutland pipe insulating cement, costs $7 abag at hardware store. I used it to fix the baffles on my stove.

sounds cheap for a baffle board from the maker... how much is your time worth to track down and cut(wear a good mask, btw!) a piece of ceraboard??
