I need to heat a 2100 square foot home with 10' ceilings in the mountains of East Tennessee. I finally wore out a Century 2000 wood stove heating this home. I am shopping and considering three models - the PE Summit, Quadra-Fire 5700 and Osburn 2400. I've been fortunate enough to actually see and inspect a new Summit as well as the Quadra-Fire 5700, but I have not been able to inspect the Osburn 2400. The very few reviews I've seen are good, but would appreciate any evaluation from people who really know what they are talking about. I am drawn to the Osburn 2400 because of its mass, firebox size, 5/16" plate top, and 530 lb weight, etc. I would surely thank y'all for any help in this area. God Bless all! Thanks!

I realize you are looking for feedback on an Osburn stove, but my 2200 insert has been a solid performer. I only wish the 2400 insert was available with the bay-window door as the extra cubic foot of volume would certainly be nice.

T6 (Summit in cast siding) has been a great stove so far for us- easy to start and operate, and a good amount of heat.

I really love my 5700. It's powerful, easy to load, and performs like a champ. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the big Quad.

I've sold tons of 5700s at my last job. Always happy customers. From what I can tell, Osborne was bought out by SBI and is producing a level of product a level below stoves like Regency, Quad, Lopi, PE, etc.

Being bought out by SBI isnt such a bad thing. Very solid reputation. Plus I just installed the Osburn Stratford (Zero clearance fireplace) and wow was I impressed on build quality! What a fantastic unit! For the money, you just cant beat an Osburn in my opinion. Better bang for the buck I feel.

It's not a bad thing, but I have Regency products in my showroom along side of SBI products and ANYONE seeing them side by side would notice a difference in quality. Also, anyone who has burned both units would notice a difference in performance. So, yeah, it's not a bad thing, but a Quad is a better thing.

Yea but you pay considerably more for those brands too. Just saying, for the money, its hard to beat an Osburn.

If I didn't think the SBI product was a good value, it wouldn't be on my showroom floor. They have their place in our business. When a person asks me what the "better stove" is between an Osburn and a Quad, anyone in the business would say Quad...if the same customer asked about "value for the dollar" I would say they were about equal. Just like some days I am happy with a cheeseburger for $1 from Mcds and some days I want a burger from $5 from a diner. To me, both are good values.
