Nice to just pull the wood off the splitter table & put it on the stack.
I'm liking being a little spoiled. I split the big stuff vertical in the woods & then trailered it to the pile.
Where I could get the splitter, I used it near the tree, the rest I rounded up with the 4W & trailer
hauled to the woodpile & spit & stacked there. Versatility & less effort.
Row 8 a little high. 6'+ X 12 - 18" splits.
8 rows, average 5' 6" X 12' , should be nice wood next winter.
Hoping they don't fall over during break-up.

Nice work Dave! So.....what do you have there - 6 or 7 cord? Is that what you burn per winter? Cheers!

With the old stove, 8-9 cord/year.
New stove 50% more efficient so guessing 4-5 cords.
Total wood seasoning that I got this winter, 9 - 10 cords.
Hopefully more if some of the local highway projects go, (free wood when they clear the ROW)

After using this one, I plan to make a bigger, heavier duty one. Probably 3' X 3' or so.
Ill bolt a long piece of angle to the holes in the beam & maybe have a buddy weld some braces to it for the table top.
Maybe even add an adjustable outboard leg for more strength. Needs to be easy on/off so I can switch to vert mode.

Hand split row eh? I'll trade some birch for some oak. You haul a load up & we'll swap. :)

Nice stacks there Dave. I'm hoping to pick up the same splitter the next time it's on sale at Tractor Supply.
 
Those look like tall stacks dave. Tall but very straight.

May want to see if they ever get any returns.
Mine was a refurbished one so even cheaper than when on sale.
Plus it was full of Hydraulic oil (save another $75). Same as new warranty.

Thanks WD, 2D camera helps it look straight.
 
Quad trailer has nice wide tires . Is that so it floats in the swamp ? :)

Those stacks do look tall.
I try that and the wind knocks them over.
 
Good work Dave. If you think you love that splitter now, just wait. You'll love it even more as the years go by.
 
I have been thinking about making a table for mine as well..would be real easy

+1 I lucked into a basically brand new machine that was returned because the lever was "sticking" (Huh?). $750 same as new warranty, full of oil... been running great. If you have a TS nearby its probably worth dropping in frequently.
 
Just don't stand too close to those stacks on a windy day , they could crush you like s bug !!

Tundra tires. Most areas we moose hunt is kinda like walking on a sponge, you sink down. So the wide tires help.

VERY VERY good safety point!. Especially with the granddaughter always helping me.
I thought about that, after. I wish I had put some ropes in the stack N/S & E/W to tie it together about 1/3 down from the top.
I tried to lean it to the rear but when the ground thaws, who knows.
Hopefully it's temporary & I will get the wood shed built before it falls.

Any ideas how to tie it together now that it is what it is?
Maybe I should make the 2 front rows shorter & into 3 rows. (but I'm already encroaching into the yard/grass, but it is temporary till winters gone)

May or June the ground will be thawed enough (I hope) to dig some corner post holes for the shed.
