Well for me, the burn season looks to be coming to an end... I am sure I'll be burning some at night here and there, but was just wondering how long other members went before they quit burning...

We will likely be using heat off and on until the end of may

Today was warm but cloudy so I left the little Prodigy run all day on low.

March can see some snow here but does not last long.
April will generally be unsettled and can be cool
May starts to warm up fairly well but generally we let the Quad take over the duties and it an auto on a stat.

I`ll burn pellets in my finished basement right up thru any cold days in April and May. One never never knows when those cold / damp spring days will end in Western Ma.
My little Harman on setting #1 will go nearly 2 full days on a bag. Just enough heat to keep the place warm.

If memory serves me correctly, last year it rained in New England right up until about July... If if does that again, I'll be running it to take the dampness out of the air if I have to.

An "ordinary" burn season I would guess would end late April. At least most stoves won't be running during the day, but maybe running at night here and there.

You`re right! I have to light mine manually twice a day sometimes. A couple hrs morning and at night to take the chill off.

Most season's its been late April early May.(except for last year early June). Or once the house temps stay in the upper 60's.

End of April or whenever I run out of pellets.

im on my last bag now so it might be tonight if I can't buy more pellets somewhere...

I have about 25 bags of pellets left, 5 bags of corn, and a 55 gal barrell of corn left. Should be good for the rest of the heating season.

End? Last year, here in Maine, I remember a couple of weeks in august I didn't use any pellets. That's about the only rest my Enviro got.

Fuel isn't a problem here, I always have corn and there are always pellets in the barn. I've never had less than a pallet of pellets and at least 200 bushel of corn in the tanks at all times so our heating season ends when the wife decides it's warm enough to open the windows. It's like the thermostat issue. She decides, I obey.

That is what a good marriage is all about.

Me thinks you just set yourself up with that one  .

Smokey,

You're a smart man. I concur.

If I had my way stove would be shut down earlier, but it's very important to keep the little lady happy. If mom's not happy no one's happy!

Typically mid to late march before we start to see 70s in the afternoon but sometimes that can drag into April. April 15th is our "frost free date" and people will start putting tomato plants in the garden so we are very close. Supposed to hit 65 Saturday but lows are still 35-40 so the thermostat has taken over. I still have most of a ton in the garage and was hoping it would not be there after the season ended but i think there will be leftover and it will be in my way all summer...

I don't see how you stand it... There is no way, I mean "NO WAY" I could survive up there in that!!! I have about 23 bags left and I started this burn season out with 63, so I am on track to use just under a ton again this year!!!

Basic for me, is when I run out.
Got 6 tons this year and have 1/2 ton left then propane full time till next season.
Unless it's real cold then will borrow from neighbor, we all do that from year to year.
Andy

For me, it just tapers off. Probably the stove will go on some nights in May. especially if we have a few cool rainy days. Or the season ends when the hopper's full of pellets and the stove hasn't turned on in a week or so.
