Just wondering if or what anyone has planned for the off season coming up for there heating systems.
I for one will be having a hybrid storage system as I am planning on plumbing in 500 gals. of pressurized storage along with my current 1200 gals of unpressurized storage .
I am planning it as so I can valve out the pressurized storage during the off season for when I just use the coil in the unpressurized tank for my DHW .
As with the increase of capacity I will be removing my antifreeze in my system so we will be going with plain old water ( with crossed fingers ) .
I also will be tying in heating my hot tub also off of the boiler .

Yup, new underground lines, 500 gallon pressurized storage, indirect HW maker, eliminating pumps and going with zone valves. Should be WAY more efficient when completed.

BTW web, hows that Alpha working?

The alpha works great . Nicests thing is you dont even hear it run . I have had it out twice since I put it in I tried it without the IFC first and recorded its performance and thought I had wanted to detune it so I then put the IFC in . I didnt like the performance at all with it in . I think it would be ok if I didnt currently have antifreeze in the system . Anyways I took it back out again . ( IN Pieces ,once the IFC valves are in thats the only way they come out )
Pump works good and is handeling all 5 zones well.

Yes,I plan to have the new Econoburn 150 hooked into my existing system and take the NY Thermal wood boiler off line. I may replace the 11/4" Kaitec lines ,which run underground to the house , with PEX and add some Tees for the future non-pressurized storage.

Well if I can find the spare $2500 I've been looking for all year I will be installing radiant in-floor. I've had the BOM ready for a year now...just waiting until I don't have more important things to spend the money on.

me

i will kick out my kerr tw2000 and install a tarm with storage

I will be changing secondary loop plumbing around to help with the mixing I have in my storage tanks. I will add a zone for the DHW with its own pump controled by arduino. My secondary pump will come on when the forced air furnace fan turns on instead of running all the time. I will also insulate the barn and add HX with forced air furnace. Also getting rid of tees and elbows that were used for gauge wells.

I don't plan on using the IFC either. Web, what kind of zones are you running off the Alpha? (baseboard, radiant, etc)

mostly my changes are to put a cement slab around my OPB so I don't have to stand and kneel in the mud to clean it.

May 15th I'm ripping out my old Trianco w/Beckett oil boiler and putting in a Viesmann Vitola 200. That, and splitting a bunch of wood.

Redoing my lines from polebuilding to house. I loose over 30 degrees round trip plus I didn't use O2 barrier lines when I installed as I was using the lines for a OWB.

I am going to upgrade my baseboard to SlantFin Multi/Pak 80 so I can run cooler water and make storage last longer.

I am looking at adding storage (planning stage) also going to build a wood shed enclosure and am looking at making a new route around the garage and between the wood pile and boiler shed to drive the 4wheeler delivering wood from the remote wood piles.

I'm hoping to put a cast iron radiator next to the kitchen/dining table, cut a baseboard in the cellar out of my downstairs loop (there's no longer a bedroom down there), and, ironically, move the radiator w/fan unit from over the oil boiler to my pool room, as my Tarm doesn't leak enough heat to keep it cozy in there.

Recently set my new AHS E-100 in place. Hooked up the chimney. Have started to purchase pex and Joist trak. This will be a spring and summer project. Buying part and supplies as i need and can afford them. Will be asking all kinds of questions once things get started. Along with cutting and splitting wood for myself and daughter. Also a new deck over the cellar entrance. Plus whatever the wife finds for me to do!

I plan to add unpressurized storage (around 1000 gallons) and convert the remainder of our house to underfloor radiant heat. It is currently about 50% underfloor radiant and 50% slantfin baseboard.
