Have any of you Fireview owners ever used the outside air connector and hooked up for outside air? I wrestled with buying the accessory for this and finally decided not to until I asked y'all, then in all the uproar, forgot to ask. (I may be getting preliminary memory loss!)

I wouldn't bother unless your house is super tight.

I don't know, I put one on a few weeks ago and it's made me an OAK advocate. It's such a small investment in money (and generally time), why not? Every cubic foot of air that comes out the chimney has to be replaced somehow, why pull it through every door and window on its way to the stove when you can just pull it through a 3" flex duct right to the intake. If you take care with the install and seal it against water damage and critter infestation, i don't see a downside.

I don't know about the Fireview, but i built mine out of 2 8' sections of 3" flexible vent duct, some hose clamps and a compatible dryer vent. $30 and 30 minutes later, it was done.

I was going to install an OAK but changed my mind. All is well.

I don't have a Fireview but I too added an OAK this year after several years without. I have noticed a definite improvement in the comfort level in the room where the stove is. We used to have nasty drafts come across the floor.

I had a stove hearth built for a previous stove which incorporated an outside air intake.

I purchase a fireview this year with a OAK. The stove has been running flawlessly throughout the year. No problems with runaway stoves that I have read about with this stove. This was a problem with my past stove (Avalon Rainer).

The OAK comes up through the slate floor behind the stove in the AVATAR. I used 4" metal flexible dryer duct. Has been working great.
