That is quite a machine! I could buy a lot of firewood for $5000

wow, I think the word for that is "overkill". It would go along very nicely with the 880 I'm gonna buy some day.

That would definitely split my 18" max spruce & birch. Not sure that after shipping to Alaska it would be cost effective.
But looks like a well built tool.
Offer $3500, get it for 4k, split wood forever.

A good splitter is like Heirloom Quality Furniture. You can leave those behind for your kids and your kid's kids.

If I pay 5 grand for anything it better have a place for my butt

Overkill is an understatement. I'm surprised that he put the wedge is on the ram. For that kind of money and the power output it needs a hydraulically adjustable four or six way wedge.
I know of a couple of homemade overbuilt units that are similar. One recently added an adjustable four way his latest addition. The other guy Ed loves showing off that he can shear an 10-12" log sideways against the grain, good for making kindling I guess.
Both of them have a slow cycle time compared to smaller store bought units.

If I ever get an inkling to purchase or build a thirty plus ton horizontal only unit, you bet it will have an adjustable four way wedge to go along with the lift.
You could buy at least four 20 to 25 ton splitters for that money.
That engine alone is $2200 new.

2200 new? Sheesh. I have a 16.5hp cast iron sleeve kohler on my craftsman lawn mower. Vertical though.

That model must brew you coffee !

CL items are priced out of the market now for some reason. Its almost a waste of time looking at things. I don't know what people are thinking.
