Now that the burning season has come to a premature end for the most part, shut the old coal stove down and cant wait for what will hopefully be a better spring/summer than last year! Even though we had a long cold spell here, I ended up using just about two tons of coal for the whole season keeping 2700 sq feet at no lower than 70 and averaging about 75. All said and done it cost me about $475.00 to heat my home this winter! Yahoo and thanks for global warming/elnino (at least in the NorthEast this year)!

I'm hoping winter is over. I'm looking forward getting a jump on fishing this year. There are pike out there just waiting for the chance to break my line.

Matt and likes wearing out the drag on reels.

It failed to get above 45 deg. yet again today here in southwest Missouri. I've also been trying to recollect what the sun looks like; seems like it used to rise in the east, right? I forget.

Still burning 24/7, although it looks like I could get a couple of days break before it's back to cold weather again for the coming weekend.

Should move up to Vermont. Went skiing today in just a long sleeve T shirt and got a sun burn.

Heard that. Was out framing in a t-shirt today and came home with a sun burn of my own.

I shut her down this week, but next week looks like highs in the mid 40's again, so she wont be shut down for long.

Same here, I just started the morning fire. We've had some springs last until July, though this year is looking to be warmer. A 3+ month long springtime is pretty typical for this region.

There will be no shutting down of our stove just yet. By next week most will be burning again even if for a short time. I fear after Friday of this week we could have about a 2 week period of cold with a little snow off and on.

Its going to be in the high 60s-low 70s until Monday. By Monday its supposed to drop back into the 40's. Im giving my insert a break but she's not done yet!

not gonna lie, very tempted to start up the stove today and probably will, it was 63ish degrees today, but without the stove going since monday night and no heat in the entire house, the basement/living room is now down to a chilly 58 degrees. for some reason i think it will be the middle of august and we will have a chilly night and i will be tempted to start up the stove!

Yep. Mid fifties outside but downstairs it is chillier than I let it get in February. A Super Cedar is getting ready to give its life for the cause.

I've been off and on here. Is 54 in the house this morning. Should be 60 outside today. But with a new stove coming I'll be finding reasons to use it if the temp stays cool at night. Should have a bunch of nights in the 30s yet to come before Spring really hits here in the mountains.

I just run the NG for 1/2 hr in the morning and get the temp to the low 60's. Then the house heats up to high 60's through solar radiation throughout the day. Temp slowly coasts down overnight. Don't need to use the stove in this weather.

Knew it was going to be a cool night, and no sun for the last 3-4 days, felt "cold" in the house.. somehow heat pump 68 is way cooler then wood heat 68.. anyways built a medium sized fire about 8:30, just let it run. was 79 when I went to bed at midnight and back to 68 when we got up, but a sunny day today and it has stayed above 68 in the house and is climbing into the 70's this afternoon. Bucked this morning, splitting this afternoon and tomorrow, stacking Saturday. (11/12 wood)

Haven't burned since Sunday and we hit 75 today at the workplace. However, I will have fires again off and on until about Tax Day.

Still burning at least one fire every day . . . yesterday was the first time since Fall that I have only had to light one fire and it was just in the evening.

we canadians eperienced the same early spring heat wave this week as the northern new yorker's and new englanders...getting ready to brush off the outdoor fire pit and get ready for after dark bonfires this spring/summer/fall.

We hit 73 today.

I suspect it won't, and shouldn't, last as our seasonal average is 55 for this time of year. I'll probably have a few more fires, but this early spring is great timing as I was running out of seasoned wood.
