I tried my first bag of appling county pellets so far Ive had to jack my auger speed up from 2 to 3 with a fan speed of 5 on my Englander/summer heat 1500. Despite raising the auger speed the temperture has dropped from 325 to 250 degree's. Im comparing the appling county to Clean energy(which I like) and Pennington(I also like but the pellets are too long and I can hear my auger working double time snapping them into pieces). Both clean energy and pennington purchased at Lowes 5.98 a bag. Its ashame, the appleton county's were 228 a pallet. I purchased three bags of appling so lets see what happens with the other bags of appling county?

I left the auger speed at 3 and the fan at 5. House was a bit colder and stove temp barely at 200 degrees. I jacked the auger speed up to 5 and Im barely at 275 degrees. Its a shame I was going to buy a pallet of these appleton county pellets. Not for me. I ll stick with lowes products while I continue to experiment.

Others have reported similar results and I tried 2 bags of ACP's, at 170 a ton there not bad for shoulder season or to mix them with some higher grade pellets.

No way would I buy any at 228 a ton.

You may want to try your blower fan speed to 8 or 9, as I've found out those settings produce more heat, even with quality pellets.

Around here every big box store was selling pellets at 218 a ton almost all season.
the only execption was walmart at 5.50-6 a bag.
