Here is the skidsteer spliter I just got done making. It has a 6inx32in cyl on the bottem and a 3.25inx 30in cyl on top. I can split those BIG rounds from the cab as I can monuver them where i want them. When I get them to size I can then split them with the top. The top cyl has a 9 sec forward and 6 sec return. This is on the low flow hyd with the skidsteer at idle. If I hooked it up to high flow it would be really fast. I welded it up from scrap that I had and I need new hoses and fittings as they were just what I had handy. I need to get 2 high pressure valves to put on the top valve so I can shut it off when I'm using the bottem cyl. I have to disconnect the hoses for now. I'm going to use it some more before I make the changes. It's faster than my 35 ton gas and it might be just as cheap to run as I'm running desiel and that 12hp gas briggs is a gas hog.
The skidsteer is an ASV 4520 115JD hp engine and the tractor is a Century47 hp 4x4 (same as Bronson)

May be cheaper on diesel but yur runnin' a very expensive diesel engine vs. a cheap gaser.

I believe you are right. I think the ideal would be to have an elect. motor on my 35 ton that I would use up at the house and use the skidsteer one out in the woods getting them down to size. The gas one is a 12hp and it starts really hard if it is cold and it don't have a starter and when it kicks back it likes to pull my arm out of the socket. Plus it eats gas. Maybe I'll just have to stop checking oil level so I can then justify putting an elect motor on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5hp compressor motors work well with 16gpm pumps. The motors seem to last a lot longer than the tanks.

Lead: Hell of an idea. Looks like it will save your back a bunch. I'd worry not about idling that diesel, unless you are commercial, and even then it may be pretty cheap in the long run. I doubt that you'll run that diesel out before you expire.
