So I arranged to have some wood delivered later this week. I have bought from the guy before a couple years ago, got pretty nice wood, fair amount. This time he says he's delivering 1.5 cord loads in his F-350. Skeptical, I asked how he was getting that much in one load. He said its a 10-foot bed with high sides, nothing more specific. Do you believe it? If its 10 long, 5 wide, 4 high, that's 200 square loosely thrown. I'm not sure that gets to 1.5 cord stacked. Any thoughts would be helpful, since its not too late to call it off.

i would be skeptical , dont let him dump it without looking many times you get this, and they call it 1.5 because the sides are a little higher...i believe they think they are giving you 10x6x4 =1.8 cords by the math .. however loosely thrown in wont equal 1.5 cords in most cases.... you will be lucky to get a "strong" cord

Just take a good look and measure the bed. My next door neighbor has a 350 with an aftermarket dump box and I think the sides are 3' and width is 6' making it a little short on holding 1.5 cords

Is it rated for it , Not sure and I would think it would depend on its options Duel rear that kinda deal . Can it handle that ,absolutely, I have had 5100 lbs on my F250Greg H said:

The guy is certainly intitled to upgrade his equipment (F 350) so he can haul more at one time , maybe even the fact it has a dumper so less handeling . So he is actually makeing more per hour of his work .

The bed on my F350 is 9x7x3 or 189ft ³ . That is 1.48 cords stacked. If his is 10'x8' and the sides are 4' high, there just might be 1.5 cords there. 2.5 tons on a DRW F350 shouldn't be much of a problem. My 40 year old F350 has hauled that much weight. I just have to plan ahead to stop with the 4 wheel drum brakes.

............LMAO i hear you flatbed,i love my old ford . They pull or haul a dam good load but the drum brakes keep ya tuned in to whats going on in front of ya.

Well, despite the helpful advice that some of you have given indicating that in fact he could do 1.5 if he really filled it up nice, I canceled the order. Just so happens I found someone delivering for a couple bucks less and arranged to have him start hauling today. I just had my first cord dumped (out of 5) and there is no doubt its a full cord. He has a new Chevy 1 ton with what I would say is a standard dump body (8 ft?) with custom mesh sides that go up as high as the tarp behind the top of the cab. It was heaping over that point. In fact I just went out and met him as he brought load #2. He said his loads are 180ft thrown. I'll post some pictures over the weekend. I have my work cut out for me! Thanks for the help folks. My instinct just told me it wasn't too likely to be a true 1.5, so I had to go with my instinct - I always kick myself when I don't.
