I am considering a used Royal Heir that is available, and find very little about this stove. I have looked at the manual on the BK site, and they show 2 different sized stoves in that lineup, but do not list firebox cubic foot sizes. I would like to know what they are if anyone knows.

I would also be interested in knowing if there is anything in particular to look for when inspecting this stove. It appears they have all the features I am looking for - glass door, thermostatic air control, and a cat.

Any information would be appreciated.

Do you mean Royal Guardian? Blaze King has two non cats and the Royal is one of them along with the Briarwood. I never heard any reviews of Blaze King's non cats but the cat stoves get high praise here.

The Royal Heir stoves are mid-eighties cat models.

BB is correct, the one I am considering is a mid-eighties model. Very similar feature set to the King and Princess with a different outer shell.

Ol' BK made three versions of the Royal Heir. There were two freestanding and one insert.

The bigger heater was the 2100. It was 3.0 gr/hre and had a range of 6800-57,100 btu's.
The 2200 was 2.5 gr/hr and was 7700-31,100 and the insert version was called the 2250.

All of this is according to the EPA website.

With the EPA looking to lower the emissions or gr/hr. you may want to consider the 2200. Also, according to the dealer where I bought my King, they had some warping problems if the 2100 was burned too hot. He said the area in the top where the two plates open and close would get warped. He never saw a warped 2200 or 2250. (Lower Btu output makes sense.)

He also said that the BK guys made matching porcelain pipe to go with the stoves....

Thanks BigBlockChevy.

The manual also lists btu's, and they look similar to the difference between the King and Princess. I am trying to find out what the firebox size of the 2200 is (I believe this is the one that is for sale, they are to get back with me on model number). I don't want too small of a stove, and this one looks a bit smaller than the Princess, but can't really tell with the info I have right now.

The 2100 was 3.13 cubic feet and the 2200 was 1.74 cubic feet. The insert was the same as the 2200. You can access this type of stuff from EPA and the tests of ALL stoves done for smoke testing at the EPA website.
