Greetings to all,

It looks like Cozy Heat may be a recent statistic to Michigan's/our nations economy. I tried to call them yesterday and they now have a different phone answering service.

When I went on their website there is now a large posting in the header of their logo "A Wisconson Limited Liability Company - New Ownership".

I know Dave and Amy Rush (previous owners of Cozy Heat in Indian River and most recently Cheboygan) and have visited their new store in Cheboygan.

Does anyone else have any additional info. on this situation.

I'm thinking it is a combination of our economy and trying to sell boilers on the internet at very cheap (low profit margins) that may have caused this situation.

I'm curious to see what others have heard/know about this situation.

Thanks,

NWM

Don't know anything I got my boiler from them and they were very decent folks to deal with. I tried the link to the WI warehouse and it's hosed up so didn't find any information.

They may have just incorporated into a LLC, Limited Liability Corporation. Very common for small business to limit their personal liability to their business.

Not true at all.
The business has been changed - a new owner/partner getting involved, and I am 100% they are in Biz.
In fact, I have talked to both the older owner and the new partner/owner, and stock is actually being expanded - and, they are starting a new Campaign here on Hearth.com...

Of course, the exact particulars is not my business - on the other hand, having another dealer come on here and make guesses that they sold boilers for too good of a price....that's not exactly endearing either!

Can anyone tell me exactly where cozy heat is located ? I keep hearing wisconsin then michigan .

Cozy Heat is alive and financially very healthy. Like many companies, we have sought out opportunities to improve our business and our exposure to the purchasing public. The Cozy Heat website was purchased by a larger firm in Wisconsin. This marriage will bring even more growth and a larger market share to Cozy Heat and its related entities. As opposed to the previous post, Cozy Heat has never participated in “selling cheap (low profit margins)”. We believe our profit margins are healthy and fair for our customers. In addition, no “situation” has been “caused” by the slow economy or by sales techniques. There is no argument that 2009 was a slower than normal heating season for Cozy Heat and every other wood boiler manufacturer and dealer. However, the changes to Cozy Heat are based on forward movement, not as a result of the slow economy. Sadly, the negative rumors move faster than the true facts.

Cozy Heat has long been known as a professional heating supply company, and there are numerous customers on this forum who attest to our integrity, attention to detail, and professional business procedures.

The one who started this post, and other American dealers, will soon get a letter from our wholesale sister company with details about our expansion and improvements. Hopefully, between now and then this post will satisfy his curiosity and stop the rumors.

Dave Rush, the previous owner of Cozy Heat, is still very alive and active as the “face of Cozy Heat”. In addition, I would like to thank all our past customers who have given such positive reviews of our company and have been the inspiration to continue to grow and expand. Throughout this forum there are so many of you that have benefited from our time, advice, products, and services.
Respectfully,
Dave Rush

The reason I was "guessing" that Cozy Heat was out of business is that I have made numerous calls to the phone # listed on the website and have not received a return call as of yet.

I worked with Dave in the past and was trying to get an updated price on an EKO boiler.

I'm thinking my reasoning for saying that they may have gone out of business would be very normal for someone who is used to getting return calls/emails from a company and then a "new ownership" statement appears on the website and I am unable to get a return call from this "new ownership" company. I even called and talked to the local chamber of commerce and was told they they were moving items out of their building a few weeks ago.

Maybe they are moving the operations to Wisconson?

I guess I'll wait to hear from Cozy Heat as this point.

Thanks for the info and have a great day!!!!

It's good to hear that they are still in business. i bought my boiler from Dave and I have nothing but good things to say on how he has done business. In fact I have heard of some things that he has done that went way beyond what he would have had to to help people.

Northwoodsman, the best way to communicate with Dave is through their email service directly on the Cozy Heat web site. I purchased an EKO 40 two weeks ago and never had an issue with a response. He will get back to you sometimes that same day. Craig

Last I heard Dave was alive and kickin. I certainly hope that he is as the wood burning industry as a whole could use more people like him who are honest and reputable. Lord knows there's enough of the "promise the moon 99% efficiency 20GPM through 1" tube" types out there. 09 truly sucked economically speaking here in Michigan and so far 10 is not much different. Here's to hoping for success for Dave in his new venture/partnership. Keep up the good work.
