I had small "take off the chill" fires last evening and this morning. Will continue this practice through the summer when needed. Mostly splitter trash, cookies and chunks are used for fires during the shoulder seasons.

In central NY we can expect to have sudden cooler temps, heavy rain and winds at random times during the summer. The Spectrum provides a sense of warmth and serenety during violent weather. I love it all. John_M

Of course we'll still need more fires. This is still April. The past several days gave us a hint of summer, but there is a long way to go before summer is here.
I was going down the shore. :long:

If you stack the poop properly and let the sun and wind dry it You can burn it in the stove next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!
I've trained my dog to do his bussiness in the woods. I find myself picking up more dog chit in my yard from other neighborhood dogs

Indeed!

Not done yet here, last couple days were chilly enough to fire her up again. I burn at least a small fire when the high temps don't climb out of the 50's or I wake up to that awful sound of the furnace.

Sierra Bigfoot- awww- droolll

I have some Bigfoot from 1999, and I think 2002 in the basement. So smooth when it ages.

6 of those at about 9.5% ABV might kill me

1999! Man, you must have the patience of Job. I'm lucky if I can hold off for a single year. Better hit that stuff pretty soon, I've heard the '99 Bigfoot may be just past its peak. ;-)

I'm a real big dude, so I can handle a six of Bigfoot and still not fall off the deck. I tried that once with some Samichlaus (14% ABV) on a fishing trip and found myself just sitting on the bank serenading the trout. They were unamused.

We hit 90 in Boston yesterday. Al Gore is psyched. His portfolio hit 1bil.

Ya, I'm 182# soakin wet with a brick in my pocket- I'm happy after just a couple few of those. I put the bigfoot down in the basement and remember it only when I run out of other beer. Not being a serious drinkah, it laaassttsss

The recent weather up here has been great for one reason. The 8" of rain soaked a whole winters worth of dog poop into the turf. As I finished de-thatching the yard by hand with my steel rake, my neighbor swung by with his john deere mower and vacuumed up the mess in about 20 min. Dropped 200# of lime. Fertilize next week. After all the rain and the clean up my yard already looks like the the fairways at Augusta. I have burned about 5 stove loads since March 1.

I went on a 200 mile snowmobile ride this weekend, started right from my front yard when the sled is still parked (I don't need no stinkin' trailer).

This morning it was 5 degrees and blowing a west wind at 20 mph.

I got another month of burning yet. The F400 is chugging along happily as we speak.

11 pm and still daylight, too!

First day yesterday without a fire in the stove in 24 hours . . . although technically I probably should have had one lit . . . just too tired to fire the stove up when I got home yesterday evening.

It's over for me. Cleaning up the wood pile and the stove alike. Lots of good and not so good memories after this, my first year, burning.

Still burning almost daily here, should be able to miss an evening fire tonight since it's 80* here today. Tomorrow night we will be back in the 30's though so I'll be burning a small fire at night at least.

I thought it was over... then it turned cooler and I have actually had a couple fires. Even have a bit of snow in the forecast to be mixed in with the rain over the weekend. Go figure.

On the bright side while I was re-stacking my leftover pile I found a couple trashcans full of chunks that I had intended to burn last fall. This is a good time to burn them to avoid having to store them all summer :)

not gonna lie, somewhat jealous, only got about 600 ROUGH miles for the Entire season on my sled this year. typically i get about 1600. Awful snow year for NH. flippin mid-atlantic got more snow then the snow belt

Haven't had a fire going for a while but will most likely be having one tomorrow night and Saturday night with rain and high temps in the low 40's BAH!

Had fires the last two nights but won't have one tonight. We will be back into night burning Saturday night and Sunday since the temps will be in the thirties.

Tonight will be my first without a fire. The great advantage of a small stove in the basement. Get to keep burning a small fire in the evenings just to take the chill off. Went a little overboard last night though and had to open the bedroom windows upstairs to cool it down enough to sleep.

I knew it wasn't over. It's 40 degrees outside and I can hear and see ice pellets bouncing off the deck. The rest of the weekend promises similar conditions.

This is, I think, when I most love the woodstove!

This is what I woke up to this morning.

Definiltly not over!

going to fire up the stove right now actually!

Just came in from making little ones out of big ones on the splitting block. 85 degrees today and falling off the cliff tonight headed for nights in the thirties. Need a few days of small ones to make a coal bed for the big'uns.

Not nearly as cold here but am also getting ready to get a small fire going.

Got chilly and very windy here today. 37 right now, and dropping. Just got back from picking up a pizza at the bar, started a fire, and I'm all set.
This weekend is supposed to get a little nicer, so maybe time for the roof to go on the woodshed.
