The latest Buzz word out of the Blogs is that the Icelandic volcano is going to cause the next couple winters to be very cold across the northern hemisphere.

I was just getting accustomed to the Global warming BS, now were are going to have an ice age.

OMG stock up on pellets, quick little piggy, quick.

Oh well, its just O'l lady nature doing what she does best.

Snowy

This little piggy is ahead of ya snowy! :) Basement is stuffed full!

I bet BTU is smiling now!!!  :cheese: Did he pay you to post this????(jk-hehe) ;-P

Nope, just reading the blogs online about the ash cloud causing havoc with the airlines and now there is a worry about a cold winter ahead due to the ash ???????//

We shall see.

Snowy

Do a search on "The year without a summer". Mt. Tambora erupted in 1815 and caused a lot of problems with growing crops in the Northern United states in 1816.

All my hard work payed off. It is a little more expensive making a valcano make all that ash but i think it will pay off with all the extra pellet sales. Also I was wondering does this kinda negate the global warming thing? Can we get back to that now?

Sooooooo....all that talk about pollution causing global warming.....and yet, when we have massive pollution, we get global cooling...(sigh)

Gonna pull the trigger on two tons of Okies and a ton of Cubex.....That plus the ton and a half of Lignetics I have left over and I'm good for a couple of years!

BTU advised the pellet price may be best come August. I be holding out for better prices with 12 pounds of pellets left. I'll probably have to buy one to 10 bags tomorrow or go out of town so I can't burn. :-S

Starting my Harman on low burn now as it is 72° in here but 56° outside with the loss of our hydrogen nuclear burner an hour ago. I'm reserving 8 pounds for the morning.

Last time that Volcano erupted it was only for about a year. Remember, volcanoes are on geologic time not Eastern or Pacific standard or even Greenwich Mean Time. If Katla blows it will make this volcano a minor thing.

Lucky it's not supposed to go below 47° this weekend.
Snow forecast Tuesday.

I also been hearing bad things are going to happen in the coal industry that will cause issues with mining. I do hate to say this with the tragedy in WV.

Nothing...but here is an article regarding the Year without a summer.

http://www.farmersalmanac.com/weather/2010/03/22/the-year-without-a-summer/

and some more dooms day material...

Hooper [reporting scientist] warned that the eruption may be only a taste of the future if climate change causes ice sheets to melt further. As the last ice age ended, volcanic activity in Iceland increased 30-fold because of reduced pressure on the earth’s mantle.

Man made polution generally does not gain the extremely high altitudes that the blast from a volcano does.

The fine ash, once it reaches the upper stratosphere, stays there a long time. There is no weather that high so the stuff does not wash out with rain and such.

Most of mans polution stays in the lower levels and will wash out with rain etc.

The WORRY about the CO2 issues focus on the lower levels of the atmosphere and the stuff is supposed to act like a blanket and keep in the suns heat instead of allowing radiational cooling.

Interestingly the plantlife on mother earth just loves CO2 and converts it via the photosynthesis process to Oxygen.

Methane is another so called Greenhouse gas. It comes from all sorts of sources including but not limited to all sorts of animals (including man) farting.

Swamps produce huge volumes of methane due to decaying plant matter.

The volcano issue will resolve itself over some time.

The biggy is that the current Icelandic volcano eruption usually precipitates its close neighbors eruption and that sucker usually blows a big bunch of crap into the air.

Nothing we can do about these things and for sure this was not caused by my SUV burning diesel fuel.

Interestingly, this little "BURP" could cause a cooler summer across the Northern tier of states and maybe next winter will be much colder. ????/

No real way of knowing at present though.

If this thing quiets right down, the problem will die out quickly.

The big thing is "How High"the ash cloud reaches.

Low level stuff is nothing more than an irritation and a nuisance.

Snowy

After the chilly wet spring we had last year? I hope this doesn't effect us to much. But there already saying we could see some cooler weather as this cloud will block some of the suns rays.

With the earth quake activity and this volcano. I wonder if its the beginnings of the 2012 maylay that we "MAY" get. One earth quake actually changed the earths axis. IS the Doomsday a coming???

I have always said that we, as humans, are nothing but a parasite on the earth and if we p*ss it off enough, it will just give a little shake and we will all be gone. Remember the quote "You don't mess with Mother Nature." ?

If I remember correctly, BTU also said a month ago that prices were as low as they're gonna get. Hey, it's just like the weatherman, they're all fulla ____ (fill in the blank)

LOL! Maybe that's where I heard it....many, many, years ago! I won't go as far as the "greenies" go, because I am certainly not an extremist but we are but just another life form temporarily living on this rock. I think the dinosaurs hold the record for the longest occupation.

In my defense...I did say that prices are at there low point for the year right now...I stick with that statement...I must be getting old, cause I don't remember saying anything about August being the low point...actually I will bet that prices are $10-$15 higher by then if things keep doing what they have been the last month or so ( higher oil etc )....But that and $$.50 somewhere should get you a cup of coffee....

BTU,

I think it came from this thread. See post #19 and #20

https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/54474/#609647

We were saying how the Okies would be more competitive in the price department come fall. They must have got mixed up a bit.

Far as I can gather anyway!

I remember back inthe 80's when Mt ST Helens blew ,the earth never recovered from that, Billions died from starvation , and billions died from the -185 degree temps that the ash cloud blotted out the sun. Yep , the earth was a nice place to live until she blew. Luckly Kevin Costner started delivering mail and all things started to look up . Even made a movie about it , aahhhhh whats the name of it , " the mailman "The Post office man " oh me old mind can't remember .

I just watched that! It was called The Postman. The movie was panned but I liked it. Long though!

the year my sister was born '75 was a cold one up here in New England due to some volcano or other going off, my mom said she had to wear a sweater all summer while she was pregnant.

seams that I cannt win. dont know who this will affect the weather but this cloud dose f-up aircraft engins. that much I do know (aircraft tech, A&P). any way hope this does dot happen. after the crappy summer last yr, I was looking for a good one this year.

came home and found my pellets in the driveway, amazed that MWP ton is a bag and a half taller than a NEWP ton, you can see that the bags are thicker, I wonder what that means.
