Is the baffle plate or any of the brick retainers warped in the firebox? Do you happen to burn the stove with the spin draft on the ash door open all the time?

Baffle plate is only slightly warped (it's thin) and none of the brick retainers are warped at all. I always keep the spin draft closed and only use the ash door briefly at start up. This stove has never been over-fired. The company emailed me today and offered to replace my stove with a new one. I will be contacting them tomorrow to arrange for delivery of the new stove. They want to charge me $90.00 for a one-way shipping fee however, and I have to bring my old stove to them when I go to pick up the new one. More moving and hauling for me plus the extra $ :( I have not agreed to the shipping fee yet and will see what they say about that. The way I look at it, I already purchased this stove once and should not have to pay the extra $90.00 shipping fee for the new one.

I'm with frostbit. Had the same crack in mine but a bit smaller. I had called Englander about it and they offered to pay to have a welder come out and take care of it for me, no problem, no haggling. I have done my share of welding in the past, asked if I could do it myself and not have the warranty affected since Englander wouldn't have a bill to pick-up / prove it was taken care of "professionally" and they said sure. Three seasons later and the crack hasn't come back. Stove was three seasons old when it started. Still going strong. I think if they would radius the corners at the door during the build process it might not happen, but that's just my speculation. Still can't say enough good things about them. Good Company, good stove, run it right and it burns clean. Secondary combustion would be nice if Corey would get going on that by the time this one wears out....

I hear you on the issue of having to pay $90 in shipping, you didn't crack the thing, and its under warranty. But on the other hand, $90 to get the problem dealt with, and a new stove instead of a weld, I don't think that's too bad of a deal. I'd take it.

Wanted to bring this up again...Had the stove welded, well it cracked again above the old crack.....Spent all day trying to get ahold of Englander, will try again 2moro...
