Wow, that's a very cool design on the splitting head. Let us know how it works. Better yet, post some pics.

Wish my rental center had that. You could really get alot done with a 7 way split. What'd that cost to rent?

I know this thing looks great! It was $100 to rent.

How much splitting do you have to do?

zap

I'm thinking what I have to split should yield about 3 cords......

That box splitter design is very cool. I wish that when I built mine I would have planned for something like that in the design.

You should be able to get some good production out of that thing.

Wow what a beast that splitter was! Sorry no pics fellas as pictures was the last thing on my mind. Splitting and stacking was! :) But wow it was really fun to see that thing in action. Guy told me that thing cost him $12,000!!!

The wedge design is genious. How long did 3 cords take you to split? I spent 4.5 hours splitting 3.5 cords with my splitter that has a 4 way wedge.

The end result was closer to 4 cords but it took us about 6 hours to do it. That was split and stacked though. 2 people. i dont think this design would be any faster than a 4 way, but the splits it does produce are just PERFECT! and with the block shape they stack very nicely. Very impressed.

My wife could split a lot faster with that :coolsmirk:

You got 4 cords split AND stacked in 6 hours? Thats very impressive.

Yup! Worked our butts off!! Again though that was two people. One man on the splitter, the other with the wheel barrow taking wood over to stack.

Wondering if I could fab something up to go on the Spee Co?

I wish I had the ability to fab something up because that wedge just makes so much sense. I love how the big piece lands on the top of the wedge like that. Just pull it back and push it through again.

I was not saying I was good at it. Just that I have a welder and think that is slick as heck! I can see how it would speed the process! :) I will probably just do a t or 4 way. Not sure the spee co has enough splitting force to push thru that monster!

Thats some good work! I had to wheel barrow everything about 150ft from where I was splitting so that ate up a ton of time and energy...it was so humid the day I stacked everything. The future wife helped me stack which I really appreciated. When I said she didn't need to be out here she said "this keeps me warm too". Felt good to hear her say that...

Ahh don't tell me that! I'm making her my wife next month!! :0

That splitter has 25 tons of splitting force. I am building one right now and I am robbing ideas from Timber Wolf, and Northern Tools 40 ton splitter. How big in diameter of logs did you run through it?
