Poss American Chesnut, though they're rare nowadays (disease), Elm?

I think Cherry. Maybe Black Cherry. Cut today, could still be well seasoned by winter.

Definitely not cherry (by bark or leaf - teeth on black cherry leaf much smaller and leaf more narrow) or chestnut (chestnut have strong points on an elongated leaf. Basswood (Linden) in my opinion. Still burns! Cheers!

I'm no good at this sort of thing, but sure looks like Linden/Basswood.

Leaves didn't look broad enough for basswood, but could be the angle of the pic. Certainly similar.

Thanks guys! I agree, it looks pretty close to basswood so I'll leave it where it's at. It's not on my property but figured if it was worth it I'd go out of my way for it.

It's a basswood. Decent campfire or woodstove starter wood. Lots of crackles, lots of flame. For a minute or so. :)

Yup. Looks like bass.

The color of the leaves indicates they are new growth, and perhaps not full size yet. Not too surprising considering the time of year. I think it looks like Basswood.
