I didn't see a section for introductions, but hello. I've been lurking through this site reading post after post trying to make the pellet decision. This site has a wealth of information, and has helped tremendously. I decided on the Englander 25-EP stove. It should get here in a week or so I think. I'm looking for a good place in south central Wisconsin to find pellets. My home is a single level 1400 sq/ft ranch style home with a 30 year old oil furnace.

This pellet stove idea was to good to pass up, and this site made my choices even easier.
Thanks for having this great resource for people looking to make the switch. Already have my floor pad built. Picture is attached.

Welcome Davey. Congrats on the Englander purchase....they are a good solid stove, and the customer service is second to none. And don't forget to make a note for your taxes next year for the 30% tax credit.

Thanks for the pic of the hearth pad....nice! As you've figured out by now, we love pics, especially of the stove final install. No pic = it really didn't happen!

Hope all goes well for you with the stove and welcome to the forum. On another note, are those really purple walls or maybe it's just been a long day and my sight is blurring on me.

Welcome!
Lookin forward to seeing pics when installed.

Got delivery date of 5/21. Threshold delivery so I'm glad the hearth is only a few feet away from the door. :)

Someone want to decode this for me? It's tracking info from the shipping company.
I think that the stove is coming straight from ESW but according to this it's already in wisconsin...

If your experience is like mine was, you will really enjoy your stove.

Your next decision is the brand of pellets to buy in your area. You can find here some very detailed lists of pellet brands and useful information about heat, ash, etc. The best pellet for you is the brand you've tried and liked. If you have a choice, my personal opinion is that you might want to pay a little more for one of the best regarded brands available in your area as you start out and shop around later.

Basically, though, get the stove installed, enjoy a good summer and then be ready for a very enjoyable heating season. :)

I'm pretty excited. I have always wanted a fireplace, I know this isn't going to be the same but it will be pretty dang close. I'm still waiting to hear if I will need to have a permit to install this.

Welcome to the forum! You will more than likely need a permit for the installation. Certainly if you lived in the Socialist Commonwealth of Massachusetts you would!

I'm in wisconsin also and the particular county I live in a permit is not necessary.

I live in columbia county, they are making me fill out a building permit app for hvac. I think they think im putting in a wood stove.

Welcome and technically you are putting in a wood burner.

The rules are different at different places.

Yeah, I guess I am. :) I'm giving them a copy of the instruction manual of my stove, maybe they will say I don't need one.

Some places require a building permit in order to determine the amount of change you are making to your house for tax assessment purposes as well as making certain you get the installation inspected.

The value of a hearth is frequently added to the assessed property value.

The same thing happens for accessory use structures, for example a structure to keep a dog in doesn't need a permit for safety or code reasons but for assessment only in some jurisdictions.

I think this line means that it departed Virginia, and the (delivery) Terminal location is Verona, Wi.

Insurance is something you might want to think about. If you get a building permit and inspection in your county, consider giving a photocopy to your homeowners' insurance company. It may not be necessary and it shouldn't impact your annual premium. But if ever you have a problem even unrelated to the stove, don't give the insurer an excuse to say you described your property incompletely.

Insurance companies tend to be quiet until you need them. Then they turn invisible.

That's unfortunate but at least you've notified them. (Mine didn't go up but I guess rates vary greatly from place to place.) And the increase should be minor compared to the benefits of the stove.

who did you order it through?? looks to me the tracking detail shows it as having been picked up at ESWat 11 am, then left the local Virginia terminal at 9.15 PM in route to your location near to Verona Wisconsin. you should be recieving it very soon if you have not already

Welcome, Davey!

Good luck with your new stove. You will love it. This forum and the members are just absolutely the best. Fantastic advice and help when you need it.

Check out the tests done on the different brands of pellets. Get a few bags of what you think you want to burn. Please!, don't buy a whole ton and then find out they aren't what you thought they were going to be. (Learned a valuable lesson the hard way!! LOL!)

Send pics when it is all done.
