Burning Hunk

I just ordered a new fireview while it is on sale. I am selling my house and in the negotiations my VC Encore is staying. Contrary to what everyone says about the VC it has been a workhorse and has served me very well.

The soapstone stoves have always interested me and I figure this is prime time to check them out. I will be moving to a small cottage in the country and it is 1100sqft. Cathedral ceiling in main room, original log room is fairly insulated and the enclosed porch has been made into a year round room but is always cool in winter. There is a Resolute Acclaim in the cottage now and I know it struggles for long burn times when temps hit the 20's. The long burn times and even heat is what pushed me to the fireview.

Once I get it installed I will take pics and try to post them. I just cant wait to get out of the city and back to the country where I came from.

Congratulations both on the new stove and on your move to the country. Once most anyone lives in the country it is hard to go back to the city. But if a country boy moves to the city, he usually can hardly wait to get out of there!

What Dennis said. You shuld be nice and cozy in the cottage.
I grew up a country boy trapped in the 'burbs. Now I work in NYC and live on even less land than where I grew up. Someday I hope to get where I belong.

Best of luck with the move (always a hassle). Sounds like you're making the right move for you. I'll look forward to pics of the new installation. Be safe. Rick

Congratulatoins!

I'll think you love the stove. I just fininsed my first season with a Fireview. I have owned and burned Avalon stoves for the preceding 20yrs. Always wanted a soapstone stove so when the sale and rebates came around I took the bait.

The stove far exceeded my wildest expectations. It took about a week to get used to the CAT and air adjustments, however, once I got past that the stove was a dream. Extremely long burn times and more importantly, extremely long heat output. Can't wait until next year.

xraydog, that is a good report. Glad to know it has exceeded your expectations. It did ours too.

xraydog and savage, thanks for the stove input. I am a little hesitant going to another kind of stove but the reviews were great. One thing I will miss is burning with the open front. At least three times a week I would come home from work and put the screen in and really relax in front of the fire. There will be plenty of positives with this stove I am sure. Once I get it installed I will take pics. No rush though. Heck, I still have to pack up one house and move to another then move the Resolute Acclaim out and get the Fireview in. Thanks again for the input.
