I received my two tons of Maine's Choice pellets (two moose on bag) yesterday from www.woodpellets.com. They were placed right in front of the garage as I had requested. The bags were double rapped. One with the saran wrap all around and then a large plastic bag over the top. I moved both tons into the garage and noted only one broken bag. The pellets were a dark color with some light ones mixed in. The pellets are a mix of hard and soft woods. Not sure how these are gonna work. We'll have to wait until October to find out. Price was $524 for two tons delivered. For that price, I though I'd take the chance.

Anyone else have any info on the pellets? I still have two tons of LGs and 1.5 tons of Cleanfires from last year.

I burned some last year. They were produced before they had the plant explosition. Decent heat and average ash. Pretty much a decent middle of the road overall. I would have no issue burning if the price was right. I haven't seen any of the newest batches, But still looking.

Keep us posted once you get a chance to burn some!

That's what I figured. I have a newer house with good insulation and the Harman seems to burn almost anything I put in it..I do clean it once a week. I think the good maintainence makes a difference when burning these pellets. Oh well, it's a wait see game at this point.

I burnt 'em exclusively all winter & was happy overall. But i have a chance to buy Canadian Energex at $ 225 per & can't pass it up. They were one of the 4 i burnt a couple winters ago & boy, they burnt clean & hot. But Maine Choice is not a bad pellet . Muss

Hey Guys - We are retailing the Maine's Choice and they seem to be light in color with a hint of red. See Pic. Specs on the new ones are pretty good.

Would you mind telling me who is selling these pellets for $225/ton? I would be very interested in getting a couple of tons at that price?

It's a fella in No. Anson by the name of Kengas . I lost his # but i've been to his place & that's what i'm gonna do by the end of the month & he delivers at a very reasonable price.

You say the specs are good, do you have a copy of some testing results that could be posted ?

How did you get them to deliver just 2 tons ? Trying to use their website;and they seem to start at 3 pallets: 1 at their "regular" price, and 2 or more at their "sale" price.

When I ordered the minimum was two tons. Not sure where you live. You may want to call them directly to see if they can deliver just two tons.

Got 3 ton from Paul's in Bangor for $225 delivered.

I agree w/ BJN644....where are the specs coming from? The bags? The manufacturer?

And even if the "PFI" stamp is on them, as we've seen recently, that doesn't mean much of anything.....the horrible Infernos have a PFI stamp on them, and the super Cubex don't.

Here are the results

5/24/10

Ash .65%
BTU's 8166

i burned about a ton of the Maine Choice last year, before the mill burned down.

I wa happy with the heat, clean burning pellet, not much ash.

I wonder if there is any way to tell during these summer months if the 2010 Maine Choice pellets are any different than before the plant explosion?

Im going with them this year. $768 for 3 tons delivered from woodpellets.com.

Thats with my $20 "pellet bucks" discount. Not to shabby.

I also am excited to buy pellets from a local company.
