Nice pile of wood there. Looks like things went better for you than they did for me last week. Is that the Hickory you were talking about? Looks nice. Maybe you did better because of the brand saw you were using. ;-P

maple and walnut the aux oil-er is a "BIG DEAL" you can see the oil bobbling from heat and can tell the saw picks up power when its turn on at the start of the cut. We just started at the front of the pile, next will be more walnut and ash.

Thats pretty sweet. What are you going to do with the boards?

Sale some should wind up with well over 1500bf Got a few thing I want to do. Like flatbed need to redo the trailer and a real nice shelve for my saws. Oh, New dinning room table. And part of it is "MMAUL"

Thats cool. Seems like a decent return on the equipment investment. Some of the locust I come across would make nice Adirondack chairs.

He had all the trigger time....lol but there is alot more work other than the trigger. I got it all from baileys don't remember who make it but very well made.

How thick are your planks? I would love to use something like that for flooring in a bedroom.

I did most of the saw time but J is still under the weather. Probably killed him to watch someone else use his new toy. :)

you can do any thickness you want up to 6 inchs..Maple was done at 1-3/4 and the walnut at 1-1/4...I am running 3/8 chain on the 880 so the waste was not near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Very imprest with the whole thing and my first run at it.

Lol yep its not every day you let someone else break in your 880......

That saw is a torque monster. We figured it probably weighted 60 pounds with the full setup.

2-1/2 gallons of fuel and almost 2 gallons of oil and I would bet it will pick up a little more power on the next run. Port the muffler in 11 months and it should be a very sweet saw.

Well I'll be danged. That 880 wasn't just one of your imaginary friends.

Looking good Jay (and MMAUL). How long were those boards? The size of log kinda throws off the true representation of size. I wish I had a pile of slabs all stickered up and drying. Lots of projects in mind.

the walnut is 10ft and the maple is 8ft I have a 17 foot ash that should be some long runs but not that wide. Hickory thats 13ft long and 30inchs wide waiting to make sure that saw is well broken in before that one. The saw is well over 4-foot so it has a way of making a 8 ft log look small!

PERFECT! Even the maple at 8ft is plenty long for projects. I am wondering if the 17ft ash is gonna twist bad when drying????

I really only need it to be 9ft so I might just cut it down. This is what I want to make the floor of my trailer out of.

Very, very cool. Some flooring with boards you mill yourself will make a great conversation piece, and will be rugged as heck.

Ack! I'd give my eye teeth (the only ones I have left) for 17' ash boards. Can you say "canoe gunwales"?

Nice job, both of you. BTW, what is that big round holding up the high end of the log? It has beautiful figure, or at least it looks like it does in the photo.

Just about any idiot can build a strip canoe or kayak, you just gotta want to. I'm sure you'd do fine.
