Hello to all.... I have to say that this sight is incredibily informative and i've learned alot. I just had a few questions and could use some expert advice. I had my Kennebec installed in March 09 by my local dealer. In basically one season i have had to have the dealer replace the gasket around the door 2x. Even with a new gasket it still doesn't pass the dollar bill test. The bill comes out easily and i felt like i was ripping through way too much wood last season. I just saw that Jotul now makes a single door for the Kennebec. Anyone know if i can switch to that door and does anyone think that will help my problem? I have always liked a single door better but i couln't get the Rockland to fit so i had to go with the Kennebec.

Also...in the room where i have my wood stove there are cathedral ceilings. So much wasted hot air up there. I do have a ceiling fan hanging down but when i'm burning i'm torn between keeping the fan on winter mode so it just moves the air around, or the summer mode which actually pushes it down. I'm desperately trying to circulate the air in my straight ranch down the hallway towards the bedrooms. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

Try putting a fan on the floor at the far end of the hallway blowing the cooler air toward the stove room. Put the fan on low. I have a ranch style house and just use a small oscillating fan, not oscillating, blowing toward the stove room. Sometimes it's actually warmer in the back bedrooms than in the stove room.

Run the ceiling fan so it is sucking air up, not blowing it down.

Replace the gaskets on the doors yourself. They are either using too small of a gasket or are 'pulling' the gasket when installing it. If you pull on it at all it will reduce the diameter of the rope gasket. tjen it won't be big enough diameter to seal around the doors. I think it says what diameter to use in the back of the manual.

I'm sorry I do not have and answer on switching the doors.
When changing the gasketing it is best to make sure to have a fire a.s.a.p. to cure the gasket cement. The other thing about gasket is when you clean the glass do the best you can to avoid getting moisture onto the gasketing. Moisture can ruin gasket.
