The last few days the pellet stove has been the farthest thing from our minds. Just trying to stay cool in the near record heat were are having. I think today was a record for us, Just not confirmed yet.

How are the other members doing?

Off to the lake to try and cool off, I think I am melting!

Pretty hot here I think it reached 96 and very humid. To bad we couldn't bag it and save the heat for a beter time! No complaints though you don't have to shovel it and it sure won't last.

Yeah we set a record for over 90 degree days in June and now we are in the midst of a bunch of hundred degree days. I am feeding the A/C with lots of KWHs.

z leave ur bathtub with 6" or so of cold water so to dehumidify the air & releive the humid stress of the heat+ allow free airflow to the tub from the rest of the house. =condensation

My stove is in the basement so I used the heat as an encouragement to get down there and clean it out. Also used the leaf blower to get rid of the soot in the system - is wood ash good or bad for blueberry patches??

Wood ash is bad for bluebarrys

I worked the holiday weekend in the hot 90+* temps about 12 hr/ day for 3 days. lots of water and shade breaks. I was working at home tryng to make some progress on my shop and boiler shed. Better than
doing it in the winter !

We have tide the heat record of 102ºF in CT(the all-time highest temperature ever recorded at the airport).

The dip in the lake didn't last. I think I will sleep in the basement tonight. its only 75ºF down there. 86ºF upstairs(raised ranch style house). My pellet stack should make a comfy sleeper!

Pretty bad when your sweeting sitting still! Yuk!!!

Its hot as all get-out here in Michigan. We have been busy here at work today, started the morning with a house fire in 90 degree heat. Only good thing is, when ya get out of the house, the 90 feels more like 70! Only 11 more hours of this 24 and I'm off on my 4-day. Stay cool!

Wood ash is a liming agent, if you use it in your blueberry patch you should do a soil acid test and whatever the reading suggests for adding sulfur to bring the soil to a neutral state you should double it.

Blueberries like an acidic soil and do not set fruit well in an alkaline soil which is what the wood ash can create.

Well this morning I installed one of our air conditioning units, this is the first time in three years that I even wanted it on.

This wasn't the warmest it has been since we moved here, but it has been a several day stretch of warm and humid and we needed a bit of relief.

well i dont know about hot but is was 97 here today and the humidity was only about 85% not back it felt like you shower about 15 min. outside

102 °F today in the Lower Hudson Valley of NY, and I had to drive some cars today at work that the A/C was broken in....I spent 30 straight minutes standing in a cold shower when I got home....YIKES!!!

(But it DOES beat snow, anytime!!)

I'm surprised, I thought all the pellet piggies would be busy wallowing in the mud!

I'm keeping cool by eating sunflower seeds. No, it doesn't actually make me feel any cooler, but the saltyness gives you the impression you've been drinking sea water, which I think psychologically makes me think i feel cooler. Maybe. Think I might turn the P-43 onto test mode just to have the blower in the face.

I'm with Smokey on this one. I dont like a/c much, but this heat wave got the better of me. The a/c went in yesterday. Best thing is I can (and will) take it out of the bedroom window as soon as it breaks (blocks a good breeze). There it lives, on the floor for most of the year.

OH, like a good little piggie, I took delivery of 2.4 ton of Spruce Pointe on saterday, July 3 with the temp around 92 deg. Not a huge amount, but a start on next year's stash. Now I just have to wait a few weeks for the knee to finish up and then carry them to the basement. Cant wait to see how hot it will be then WOO HOO !!!!!

I beg your pardon. Pellet piggies are civilized, we do not wallow in the mud.

Now get thee back to that splitter and get next winter's wood split and stacked.

But I will wallow in a pile of wood pellets. The bigger the pile the better!

are you guys cooking up the pellet fueled air conditioner too? That's becoming a very popular endeavor.

Finally after a week of the heat and humid weather. We get some releif with a bit of rain. Whew! I hope that isn't back anytime soon!

Back to browsing for some pellets!

.... a bit of rain.....

A bit? My weather station recorded 2.25" overnight between midnight and noon today...YIKES!

But I'm not complaining one bit....the temp went way down, the A/C got turned off, and the lawn got a much needed drink to help get rid of all the brown patches. :)

I think we all need some rain. I don't think we got half of what you got though. My grass was still pretty green and I will have to mow it again due to the rain.

I have been saving my clippings, Maybe I can get them turned into pellets along with my fall leaves. :cheese:
