I would jump at that if I lived down there - as long as there are no major cracks in the cast iron parts. If it has been used a bit the cat and refactory might need to be replaced, maybe the damper door too $600-$800 - worst case. I just replaced the refactory, fire back, etc in mine. Works like new.

I know some are not fond of the VC any more. When the damper door on my broke recently we looked into getting a new stove, but decided to fix the old one. Hard to find one that burns as well, as long, and heat as much, and looks as good (IMHO). New high end stove cost money - keeping an old high efficiency stove running also costs some money.

How will you be using the stove? Ours runs 24/7 to heat the whole house all winter. The stove takes time to get up and running (1-2) hours from a cold stove. It is a lot of work for some added warmth. And it burns a long time, while putting out a lot of heat. I would not use it to take the chill out of a room - takes to much time and effort to get going and three hours later you are opening windows. It was build to be a furnace, used as such it works great.

I have pictures and stuff from the rebuild of mine, if you buy it and it does need some work, I may be able to help.

Thanks for the input, JimJ. I'm happy with my 1990 Resolute Acclaim - heats my 1400 sf ranch just fine. Kinda wish I had the need for it!
