Cherry and elm. I like that cherry burl on the left in the first photo. If you get it to me I'll turn you a pretty little bowl out of it.
 
In the first pic it looks like firewood, yup fire wood. 2nd pic looks like a female bee on a daisy. Nice lens. What camera re you using>great pics.

Battenkiller, you're a turner? I was going to head up Gaansvoort today to look at an estate sale for planes and such. Sure I can get you the burl. I don't need a bowl out of it though. :lol: PM me.

The lens looks like it's a cannon as well. What is it? EXIF data for both shots shows 240mm. Is that as long as it goes? Takes nice, sharp shots IMO.
