Is 165.00 a ton for marth a good price? I can pick them up at that price before the end of month. I have seen mixed reviews on them so I am wondering if it was worth it.

Yes the price is OK but Marth I believe isn't even listed anymore on the standards for the PFI if that's worth anything to you. I burned these two seasons ago and after running a bolt through my auger all of the remaining four ton were returned. They made my stove very dirty, they were dirty themselves so my answer is I will never buy them again. This is only my opinion and maybe they've changed but when you go through the hassle of loading these and then unloading them it definitely wasn't worth it to me. Here in Fargo, ND we don't have much of a choice but I'll burn dog food before I'll burn Marth....LOL! Good luck to you and if you buy let us know how they turn out. Remember this is only me speaking for myself. Good Luck

I bought some bags of Marth last winter from Lowes, and I was pleasantly surprised. Clean burning, above average heat output, and low fines.
IMO, at that price, I'd be buying as many tons as I could afford and/or store.

See Jay Takeman's pellet test at the link below. He and I both considered the Marth the "sleeper" pellet last winter.

Marth buys their fiber from many different sources.
Its hit or miss.
for me its been miss.
I did buy one ton for this seasons shoulder.
Can't beat $160.

Marth softwoods are pretty good... the hardwoods are pretty dirty...

Can I ask where you are getting them for $165/ton?

Maybe you should burn some and form your own opinion and report back.
Of course you should put them up against something decent.
