I'm still smiling about the deal we got on wood this year. The local ski hill cuts down trees every year - dead, new runs, etc. They downed the trees, branched and cut into 4ft lengths. We just cut to our length, rolled down the hill, split and stacked. Ski hill is forest service so we did have to buy a $5/cord permit. Plus we rented a splitter at $40 for the day.

Last year we burned just under 2 cords (burning all weekend and evenings in our Nordic) - we now have 3+ cords. For about $75 with gas included!

Sweet. I bet one of those groomers would make a great skidder.

Can't complain about less than 25 bucks a cord, well done.

My dad just bought a mid 70s tucker from the ski place he works at. I don't have any idea what he plans to do with it. I think he said something about plowing the driveway....

Your dad rocks. Some day, I want to do the same. I have no plans...other than to just drive it around on some land I hope to own at the time.

Nice deal on the firewood. You even have the splitter set up in the correct position; vertical for splitting.

Naaa...he was just shaking off some chips - it went horizontal right after that for the real work. ;-P
