We had a nasty storms come through the area last night. Power came back up this evening and the phone lines just came back(dsl). I took some time out today to drive around with the saws. I picked up probably a half cord or so without trying hard, a mix of cherry, oak and ash. I knocked a couple doors where some massive black locust tree's came down but the wood was already promised to others. I told one guy I'd drive by in a week or so to see if it was taken care of for him. I have a feeling that person may get second thoughts when they start cutting since it's going to be a lot of work.

I may hook the trailer up tomorrow and really go after it. I passed on a lot of the big stuff due to being by myself and not wanting to kill my back lifting into the truck. With the trailer I can just roll them up to the back and lift a little bit.

Good hunting
Watch for nails, & fence wire.

Got into an old yard tree once that even had concrete poured in the center where it rotted years before it died. Tough on chains :)

I have some friends who live out that way that posted some storm damage pics on their Facebook. Unbelievable!

Good thinking get the whole kit ready this is the way I get the good stuff most just don't know what it takes. (all chains up to par and blow that air filter out often) Long cuts in locust can be hard on the saw and chains.

Bring a makeshift ramp, so you don't have to lift at all.

Good luck rdust. I was watching those storms on the radar and wondering if you might have got hit with some. As usual, all the rain missed us. We got a sprinkle this morning though, but not even enough to wet the ground.

My office is on Canal Rd in Clinton Twp. On my way there Friday morning I decided to take a tour through some of the neighborhoods and Geeezzz it looked like a hurricane went through there. Many trees and limbs down everywhere in that area. I had business to take care of otherwise the saw would of had a workout. I just recently hooked up with a tree company that would feed me some wood when available, well Friday he calls me and said get ready to move some wood Monday since his boom truck was in for service over the weekend... his phone has been ringing off the hook.

I had plans to load up this weekend but didn't get anything beyond what I picked up on Friday. I worked on cars all weekend and came down with a nasty fever yesterday, still not sure what that was all about.

It's hard to find motivation when I'm three years plus ahead. I have my eyes on some locust that I may try to get tomorrow, the rest of what I have around here is red/pin oak and it's really tough to cut wood I know isn't going to be ready for three years.
