I am thinking about making the hearth pad for my Woodstock Keystone flush to the floor. It would be in an open area and I don't want everyone tripping over the hearth pad.

Anyone done a flush to floor hearth pad? Anything to look-out for?

BTW, the pad for this stove requires 3/4 inch plywood, with 1/2" Durock and 1/4 inch tile.

I'm not sure the total thickness of my sub-floor, but I might have to trim the joists a bit to get down 1-1/2 inches to flush.

Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

If you have a hardwood floor now, that is typically 3/4" thick and 3/4" subfloor is also pretty common in newer homes.

Could you just leave the existing 3/4" subfloor (assuming that is what it is) and cut out the 3/4" hardwood (again assuming that is what it is) and replace the hardwood with the durock and tile?

I agree with not trimming the joists!
