I havent purchased from Lowes or Home Depot before, and confess to not having followed any posts on them. This year I may need to purchase as needed so might have to use them. Not sure yet whats available at my local stores , but Are there any Brands they sell That I shouldnt get or are they fairly good pellets.

The good feeling you get from a low price fades fast as the clinkers appear....... Go for quality........

X2 and then some!

If I didn't have a choice. I would look for AWF, GreenTeam, GreenWay, Eco Flame, Marth, and Somersets from Lowes and WinterWarm from HD. The other brands the BB stores carried just had too much ash for me!

I am so lucky to have 2 pellet house's less than 50 miles from me. They carry the good stuff for just about the same cash. I also know these guys and gals know pellets. If I like a certain pellet they can steer me to a brand that is very close to my liking!

Most BB stores sale reps don't have a clue when it comes to pellets. Most think they are all the same or come from the same place anyway! I kid you not! :red:

Life is too short to drink cheap whiskey and burn crappy pellets.

Oh, Come on guys! Have any of you ever tried the Somerset's? Heck of a pellet as long as the BB keeps em dry!

One last comment on the BB store pellet supply. Seems when you need just a few to get by into the spring, They stop caring them for the grills, lawn mowers and other summer things!

Thats fine, More for me! :) O' and there smoking hot Oak from a hardwood flooring company. Rock solid fiber(there own), not from the open market. Clean burning too! Less than .4%. That aint crappy in my book. ;-)

I agree 100% with Jay on these choices.....about the best you're going to get from a big box store. If they end up having any others, let us know.

if your local TSC has "Hardwood Heat" they are a keeper as well IMHO

Agreed! Hardwood heat is just Hamer's re-bagged.

Wow, You Guys never cease to amaze me with the Help I can get here.
Thanks all for the suggestions. I dont plan on going too cheap, but things being a bit tight for a few months I may have to pop into one of these stores to pick up enough to keep going.

Thanks Again All

My local Agway has the Hamers as well as another one. I don't know what you think is expensive but these pellets are usually reasonable and available all winter long so you can just get one ton at a time.
