That's downright CRAZY! I will never, ever burn them again....If they were the last pellet available, I would get rid of my stove!

Nice pretty new bag they got. Hope they changed more than just the bag, But somehow I doubt it.

I will put them on my list to see if available locally. Should I bother with a retest?

I would test them j-takeman why not? I really didnt have a bad experience with them but they were the first pellet I burnt. I mixed them last year with green team and still have a few bags of both left. I now have some oakies to try but in all honesty..........can wait to try!

I have mixed feelings on them too. I got good heat (hotter than LG, NEWP and Rocky Mtn)(YMMV) out of mine but they were really dusty and lots of fines. Probably just overhandled...but i guess you have to expect that from a big box store.

Ditto here. Tried 20 bags again last year at $3.80 per bag. That was their last chance with me.

The new Walmart here in Hayden ID wants $4.64 a bag for Pennington's natures heat.I bought a few bags of Northwest Pride pellets at ace hardware and will give them a try. They were $4.39 a bag. They are rated 8400 btu's and .30 ash.I have been burning the North Idaho energy logs pellets and still waiting for ash to develop. They are rated at 8600 btu's and .20 ash

After reading how bad these pellets were last year, I actually tried them just to see (dumb) near end of last season.
No heat output , lousy dirty pellets.
Glad to hear they have a nice new pretty bag, heard the MWP pellets are bagging in nice new pretty bags too.

Reminds me of a saying :

" You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig" .

I saw them in the hardware section of the nearby WalMart. I told myself I would get a trial bag if they were $4 or less. I had to bend down to read the price sticker on the bottom shelf. $6. I walked away.

What a rip.Six bucks. Are best pellets around here are less then five dollars.Atlas ultra,Northwest pride,Blazers,North Idaho energy log pellets.

I burned 15 bags last year. They were some of the best pellets I have ever burned. Almost no fines in the bag and lots of heat, and a good ignition time. I liked them so much, I bought 2 more tons this year at 219.00 a ton.

I hope this years are as good as the ones I burned last year.

Mark :)

That's what's funny about pellets, you never know how they are going to burn in your stove. I tried a few bags of Eureka a few years ago and they were probably the best pellet I burned but most people don't like them, I think.

I was at the Atlas pellet company here in northern Idaho and saw pallets galore of Pennington pellets and a bunch of Walmart trucks waiting in line.I thought the rep said they were the same as there country pride pellet.I myself bought the Atlas ultra premium red fir pellets for $189.00 a ton.

Checking my local wally mart, They still have last seasons bags and are asking $6.00/bag. HD, Lowes and TSC all have them for less than $5.00/bag. I don't think wally mart will be selling much at them prices. I guess they didn't do a market survey on wood pellets this season.

Walmart sells the Penningtons for $4.64 a bag.I can get Northwest pride from Atlas for $4.39 a bag.I bought a couple bags to try out.I also bought some red label ligs to try.The North Idaho energy log pellets are still doing well in the stove as we speak. Also some Atlas ultra premium.I will do an ash test on all the pellets I have.Home depot here sells the blazers from Oregon.

I was at my local Wally last night and they had them for $6 too. They also looked like last years....faded, dirty bags and some of them taped up......

I bought a bag at my local Walmart and paid 6.00 for them here too. I was there and just wanted to grab a bag to have something to try out my stove when I got it hooked up.
Of course, wouldn't you know it, afterward I remembered I had to stop at Tractor supply and it was 4.19 for a bag of theirs.......rats.

DOH!!!!!!! lol!

Wally World in Raynham MA selling for $6.00 a bag too. Looked like leftovers.
Faded bags and real dusty.

They must be still selling though, 2 trucks with trailers parked out front.

Sometimes people just don't do there homework.

Would I be correct in assuming that some WM's are selling last year pellets at last year prices. While others are selling fresh pellets at lower prices, this year?

I can't speak for other area's, But it looks like there trying to sell last year pellets at last year prices in New England anyway! I personnaly would spend this years prices on last season pellets. One would think they would or should be less maybe? I didn't like last seasons penningtons. Lots of ash!

I bought two tons at HD for 219.00 a ton. I am burning them right now. At least the first bag seems to burn well and be in good condition. I can tell that if they are last years pellets, they were in fact kept inside, as the bags aren't faded from the sun. There seem to be very little fines and sawdust in the bag.

We'll see how it goes!

Mark :)
