Stopped burning wood for many reasons. First the wood dealers around here lie constantly about the quality of the wood. Alot say its seasoned but not. So there are no good wood dealers around here. Also can't get a wood dealer around here to cut your wood the way you want it, they just dont listen or dont care. Dont with getting up in the middle of the night and re loading wood. Done with all that ash and mess. Done with stacking wood. Pellet stoves are far, far better. I still have my woodstove and if the power ever went out, I'd fire it up then but only then.

I purchased a pellet burner to supplement my heat strips in the dead of winter and have a nice warm cozy area in the basement. I also purchased in case OF a power outage a small generator will run the stove and quite a few other items. I do not have room to store much wood unless I put it in the basement and my cutting spot is 20 miles away. I also grew up around a Yukon Klondike wood furnace and there is nothing that beats the warmth from wood head.

Natural gas is up 23% in NWPA from last year. No low prices on pellets here, $205.00 last I checked, owner said going up to $230.00 in Sept. Another place has theirs at $215.00 stored outside. Home cheepo and tractor supply had theirs at $230.00, last week.

went to buy pellets at home depot last week and they were 269.00 ton for firesides, went to other supplier and bought cubex for 230 ton.today was at home depot and prices were down to 219 per ton. guess they werent selling so good. im gonna be much happier anyways with the cubex.

Not only are you going to be happier (the Cubex are GREAT pellets!), you'll also be warmer. And in the end will have saved some $$ due to the Cubex burning hotter....you'll use less pellets for the same heat in the long run.
