I'm about to purchase 4 Tons of Pellets for the up coming season. I have a choice of Lignetics for $250/Ton delivered of Barefoot for $270/ton delivered. I used Lignetics my first season; they were OK. I actually really liked the Pres-to-Logs I purchased last year better than the Lignetics. They were very hot and less ash than the GreenTeam pellets (very disappointed). Any help would be appreciated. I have to make a decision by this weekend (9/18)

Lignetics were a little ashy last season, But the AE you have won't care and should do good with them. Barefoots should yield more heat and will be a bit cleaner. I suggest a split order. Might save you a couple of bucks!

I agree with Jay...split the order, and burn the Lig's in the shoulder seasons, and the BF's in the real cold.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will follow your suggestions and purchase two tons of each. :)

The Liggies were way too ashy for my liking last year
so my suggestion is to go 100% Barefoot which is
what I'm doing other than what I got leftover from last yr.
My stove burns whatever I throw in it but I don't like
extra ash if I don't have to deal with it.
Much luck to ya though.

Lignetics were very good up until the end of last year. Something happened to them. Lots of fines in the bags and I mean a lot and they were not burning well at all. The ash was clumping together on us.

I heard the same thing about the pellets. My dealer for Lignetics just purchase on truck load this year. He still has 10 tons left from last year. I let him know that I want mine from this years batch. I believe that Lignetics discovered the issue and corrected it. I don't want to take the chance by getting some from last year. Thanks for the heads up :)

Their problematic pellets didn't just arise late last
year but early in the season.
The Lignetics I got in early Spring of last year were
of a "hardwood and conifer blend". The heat was
there but the ash produced was nearly double that
of other pellets I'd been burning. Check the bags
if you can before buying. I'd stay away from the
blend. Lots of threads out here about them.
Here are a couple I found via a quick search.
Good luck with whatever you choose!
