CL ad - next town over - this is year 2 for me and I have scrounged probably 4 cords of mostly hardwood - maybe 20% pine

Picture shows all bucked up/ready to split - I know I should go for it but now that I am gettting a bit ahead am losing motivation for pine - am I being a lazy slug or can you Hearth posters inspire me?

"I cut down an 85 foot pine 14 months ago so it is is a little seasoned and should be ok for this winter to burn.

its in log, need to be chopped, but i have maybe a cord worth if someone wants it. pic of it is below, there is more than just shown...

getting ready to reseed my lawn, this wood has to go ASAP. come get it. "

As long as it's not too far out of the way I do. You said next town over, but that's relative. I have a good bit of pine because it's usually free.

Great for shoulder season, gets hot quick.

could be 5 minutes or twenty away..........there is a guy in my town who had 5 or 10 trees cut down and bucked in his yard last weekend - fixing up older house with great location - should I reverse look up his number and ask if I can save him some trips to dump or is that too creepy?

Very creepy actually, imagine, his phone rings................."Hello there!!! I noticed you cut down a few pine trees. Random Guy say's, "yes"? Llamaman: "I could take them off your hands if you like." Random guy: "Who is this?" Long silence.....................click.lol
Go for the other pine, you can always use it for camping, back yard fires or shoulder seasons. If you happen to see the the Random guy, then stop by and ask.

Ask away, it is not creepy. You never know he may even help you load it.

From my most recent experience with pine, if it's down for a while the bark just peels right off. Even better for seasoning. FWIW.

+1, never hurts to ask. Free is free, correct? Just wear a tin-foil hat while burning it, you'll be fine. :)

Is there apicture of Llamawoman

Unfortunately I am single at the present time although getting lots of action on Match.com - my good looks and hobbies(grass chewing, wood scrounging/burning) really are generating a lot of interest with the ladies - not the golddigger types but more the hairy armpit girls

Yes, take the free pine...assuming you have the room for it.

On the guy in town, don't reverse lookup his number...leave a polite note stating that you burn wood to heat your home and wonder if the cut wood thats there is available or not? Leave your contact information and if he doesn't call you, put it out of your mind.

Oh and hairy armpit women are ok...just amke sure she's can make a straight stack of wood.

Go for it with the pine on CL. I have a decent amount of pine this year. I'll burn it during shoulder season. I'll also mix in a split here and there when we get back from skiing and I'm getting the fire going again. Mixing in the pine will just keep more hardwood ready for those overnight burns.

My brother does a lot of scrounging and he'd be there to take it and to look for other trees that he could also have.
Never know .
He won't burn pine (avoids it anyway) but he likes to have some near the street for thieves, beggars and the fire pit.
He stopped by a neighbor of mine down the street to ask about that neighbor about dead oak removal that was going on and it ended up the homeowner was struggling to take the dead oaks down and carting the wood off to the dump by himself. The guy was happy to let someoone else help him and also make 'dump runs'. :)

you can't shave ugly. don't worry about the armpits.

oh, and leave a note on the guy's door. It's less intrusive, doesn't make anyone feel awkward and lets him contact you if he's interested in getting the wood hauled away.

I will be burning pine for the first time this year. I took down a neighbors pine tree 2 years ago and split it up. Looking forward to living on the wild side.

you could always wait outside like a stalker and ask him after he's come out and seen the truck a couple of times.

Looking for firewood for my woodstove - if you have old pile of firewood that your wife wants gone(maybe you installed gas fireplace?) or have taken down some trees and would like to get rid of logs, please shoot me an email and maybe we can help each other out - thanks!

!

BIINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! received my first reply:

"I have some oak that was cut down in June. I've cut it to length, and my son split some. There's at least a truck load.

You can have it all if you want. "

this is too easy

Only a Lama could pull that off, it didn't happen without pictures.

not that Tech savvy.........of course what would you expect from a Lllama

talked to the guy last night and did the drive by this am - plan to pick up this weekend - looks like 1/2-1 cordof oak all bucked and right near their street for easy pickup

saw that their next door neighbor has couple of cords bucked logs drying between some trees, if they are out in the yard I will ask - why not!

I would be surprised if they last the week.
