Hello I am new to the forums but have read through and see you all are very knowledgable and hopefully someone can help me out. I am trying to find out if this Century fw240007 is mobile home approved but can't even find a Century website or number to call. Anyone know where to get the info on this? Someone posted about this stove several years ago and said it wasn't approved but I noticed they got the model number wrong in the post.

Well I just finished reading the enite thing in about 2 minutes, and that included checking out the diagrams LOL! Thank you so much though for the info. The two page pdf is better than nothing. I thought they were still in business since Northern Tool is still selling them. I guess CFM and Century Heating are two different companies.

Another company bought part of their assets and the Century branded stoves are starting to show up again. Some of them branded Pleasant Hearth in stores like Lowe's.

I burn one in my workshop (installed about 3 years ago), and really appreciate it. There's actually a bit more info included with the stove than BB posted above (but not a hell of a lot). Pretty simple stove. Couple of other members here have these stoves as well. Rick

Well from what I have read it seems like a decent stove for the price. I still don't know if it will be ok in my mobile home though. What is the difference....between a moble home approved stove and a regular one? Is it just the fresh air intake because this one looks to have one in the back or is there more to it? Thanks for your help.

"Before a woodstove may be installed in a mobile home, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires that specific regulations be satisfied. First, the stove model must have been tested by a HUD-approved laboratory and listed for use in mobile homes. A metal tag permanently fastened to the rear of the appliance indicates the name of the testing facility and the stove's compliance with HUD Standard UM-84. Second, a tested and listed prefabricated chimney system—connected directly to the stove and installed properly—must be used. Third, a hard ducting system for bringing outside combustion air directly to the stove's air inlet is required. And finally, some means of securing the stove to the floor of the home is called for."

Thanks I will take a look on the back of it. Seems like a small stove installed properly wouldn't be a problem. My insurance agent told me it just had to be professionally installeD and then I see all this stuff online about being "MOBILE HOME APPROVED".

I have a CFM fw240007 that I had in my basement for 3 years before I replaced it last month with a new stove. It gives off some good heat but the firebox is so small that I found myself adding wood all the time. Combine the small box with having to load wood sideways and you have to put it in just right or it either won't burn well or the wood will roll out.

Another thing I noticed is that this stove is supposed to be EPA certified I believe but I still had smoke coming out of my chimney. Using the same kinds of wood seasoned the same amount of time in the same spot I get no smoke from my chimney with my PE stove. Not sure if it's a bad baffle design but there is a lot of wasted space in the stove up above the fire brick in the top of the stove.

I also wouldn't recommend paying much for this stove used. I bought mine brand new at Lowes for $250, I think it was on sale.

The only problem I have with the little stove is that the steel baffle is welded into the stove. My experience with my old pre-EPA stove was that every five years I had to get the local iron works to make me a new baffle. If it had been welded in I would have been screwed.

Well they are practically giving it to us. I think I will get it and if it doesn't work for me I can always sell it. Now is definitley the time to sell a woodstove. If nothing else it may work for us through the winter. We will have to make the "hearth"? to sit it on...and the pipe which is more than some stoves!

Just my 2 cents...I have that stove going on year 3 in my 460sq ft shop/poker room. When it is 9 F outside, we are a toasty 80. I do have the structure insulated. It has been great so far.

opps It looks like I meant "make the pipe" lol. I meant put the pipe together. I couldn't believe how expensive the insulated pipe is! My dad had a woodstove when I was growing up and I am not that old...I mean since the 90's they have tripled in price it seems to me. That is not something I want to scrimp on though. Anyway I am getting on a different subject. I really appreciate the help and friendliness you guys have shown me. I am sure I will have more questions soon! LOL :)

It's a great little stove. I don't know if it's mobile home approved, but if you search under tweaks you can find out ways to make it burn more efficiently.

How does it compare to the Englander Stoves? I see you have a 30NC, so am curious as to your opinion. I just ran across one near me, they want $350. I suppose that is high. I have seen them for $250 used.

Hey guys,

Does anybody have a scan of that pdf mentioned above? I'm trying to reinstall the stove and the inspector wants to see that doc. VC is no longer providing that document.

It's a shame too, I had it bookmarked. *sigh*

I just sent it to you in our private convo, Matt

Here it is again:
