Got bored again. That typically leads to a trip to the beer stove and something random being built. This time I picked up some Sleemans Clear and built a wood box. Measures 6'w x 18"d x 24"h. What do you folks use?

I built a big box that sits out on the porch. It hold about a week's worth of wood unless it is very cold out. By the stove we have a basic wrought iron and steel cradle for about 1/2 to 1 day's worth depending on the outdoor temps.

I've never used Sleemans Clear. I typically use Smutty Nose, especially the IPA.

Oh, you mean for wood? I use a floor. Cross-stacked, I keep 1-2 days by the stove, 1-2 weeks on the porch, 1-2 months in the barn, 1-2 years in the back field, and 1-2 centuries in the woods behind the field (I have not stacked that yet, however).

The only wood we use beside the stove is a small amount overnight so we don't have to go onto the porch in the cold morning. This is how we stack it in the winter though; in the carport. Step out the door and grab a handful of wood.

I keep some in a galvanized tub next to the stove. Keeps the riff-raff in one spot ( at least I like to think so ), and I put the bark and stuff that accumulates in it in the stove every couple months or whenever.

18 gallon rubbermaid tub... brown. Light enough to carry and the color blends in just fine. The crap stays in one place too. I use it as kindling.

I put a week's worth of wood on the covered porch . . . and a day's worth of wood in my woodbox which has storage space for kindling, a plastic bin in the wood box to catch and collect bark, wood debris, etc. so I can easily clean it out and it has hooks on the side which I use to hold my gloves and tools.

I like it anytime there can be as few steps as possible between stove and woodbox.

We designed our basement in such a way as to be able to move firewood in the basement window right into the wood box.

One kid goes outside by the corner of the deck and one kid goes inside to place the wood in the box.

The window you can see to the right of the wood stack is the window immediately above the woodbox.

Very nice lowroadacres, I like it. Simple but highly effective. I figure I have enough room for 3-4 day worth of wood, you look like you should be set for a week at least. Nice looking home as well.

I have to agree with most of the folks here. I have the days worth of wood
in a firewood ring on the left side of the stove, where my loading door is, and the next days worth of wood
on the right side, which actually dries a bit more being inside by the heat for 12 hrs or so.

The bulk of the wood ( approx. 3 cords) is in storage on the porch, which is covered and attached to the rear of the house.

:)

I do not like to keep much wood in the house due to the creepy crawly things that go bump in the night. Plus my wife has some real issues with bugs lol. So I leave all wood outside stacked on deck and bring in the nights wood in the following

I will let you know how it works out for me in about 4 more weeks =P In prior years we used a firewood bag but with so many trips I wanted to reduce it a bit.
