Yup, decided to keep the 5700, and just throw on the new legs I got from my dealer. The original legs were not machined flat to make a nice even contact with the washers on the bolts. I'm leaving the leg bracket on I originally cut out to make the ash dump handle have enough throw. The bracket was not cut out enough from Quadra-Fire. They sent two new wrong brackets to replace what I had cut out. What I did will work fine. So at this point I'm going to run what I have. Dealer offered a Lopi Liberty swap out for my troubles , but I've decided to just hang onto the 5700. Hauling 500lbs of steel around gets old. Now knowing if any ash bits stay on the sealing plate for the ash dump ,I'll have an air leak into the stove, I might just shovel the ashes out of the stove itself, and not worry about a runaway stove from an improper seal from the ash dump plate. I was thinking of just putting a solid piece of metal under the stove and forget about dumping the ashes.

what kinda discount they gonna give you for "settleling" with the 5700? Its in quotes"" cause it aint a bad stove, but sems to be less than perfect?

They gave me three hundred off the stove price to begin with. Guess it's my call as I could have had a Lopi Liberty too or my money back. Just sick of waiting to get some wood heat going.

The pre ACC 5700's came with a top and bottom plate cover (bolted together). If you installed the ash removal system you took off these plates and installed a grate to sweep the ashes thru. Perhaps the dealer has the plates to convert it back.

Ron, the stove came with no covers. I could look online for earlier stove parts, or just pick up some steel flat stock , mark and drill the eight holes for the 1/4-20 studs and bolt a plate up to the bottom gasket, then leave the cast iron rim and cover plate out, from inside the stove, and get or cut a firebrick to fill that spot. For know I'll just see hoe things go, no big deal. Thanks for the info though.

Hi x I've read of others here that shovel rather than use the ash dump. I like that big box 5700.

I Had a Country stove years ago, had no ash dump,,,just shoveled that out,,,no problem. Yes I'm excited to see how that big box does. Should make for some nice long fires when needed. Just took down a dividing wall in the room where the stove will be. We now have 30 ft wide room for it to move around some nice heat to the other parts of the house, doorways at both ends of the room.
