Feeling the Heat

So I decided to install my back up stove tonight. I set the stove where I wanted it estimated where the exhaust should be with the bend I already had and cut the hole. The hole is a little lower then it should be. Also the bend is not quite right. I could move the stove a little and hope the bend works but I am worried about the slight difference in height. Does it have to be level. Also is there anyway to find a pipe that will adapt to the location?

Thanks

with the hole low like it is, can you still get the pipe to align square and flush to the stove gasket?

I believe so, but the stove wont be exactly centered on the hearth. Unless I can figure out a different bend

I know this doesn't solve the problem, but in the future, remember old carpenters/woodworkers saying:

"measure TWICE, cut once"

BTW, how far off is the hole? Can you enlarge it in the direction it needs to go, and cover the "mistake" with a wall plate?

They make adjustable pipes that slip over like a sleeve to allow for adjustable lengths, also, if you are going through a thimble, pehaps you can lower the thimble slightly and the thimble will still cover the sins of a less than perfect install. Pics would be helpful. Also, take the pipes apart and start over again. I have found that a second attempt often works itself out.

"It's measure twice, get laid off once", can you put a 45 on to a elbow to accommodate the offset angle? I know that would work if the hole is to high.

I simply moved the stove to accommodate. It isn't center on the hearth but it was the only thing I could do. My astoria is acting strange again same symptoms as last year so I needed this stove installed as my back up. There is a faint smell of smoke. I am going to reapply silicone and maybe test the door gasket.
