Ok guys,

I happened to be getting lunch today and noticed they had opened the new TSC on Bay Rd in Taunton. They have about 15 tons (guess) of Appalachian Pellets out front with a $219/ton price on them.

Looking back I see they were rated (in here) as a decent shoulder season pellet. OKheat but a bit dirty.

I am planning on picking up 3 tons of Okies in the next few weeks but thought I'd try these for the warmer months.

What do you think?

I have been getting them from TSC and they have been decent for 2 years in a row. I would rather have these than the Instant Heats that TSC has now.

They are an easy middle of the road pellet. :)

Thanks Guys,

Jake, That is what I remembered about them. I think I will wait for the rain to end and pick some up.

Scott, I work in the Ind. Park across the street. I go the Hot Dog Place about once a week. Not the best food but it is quick and filling. The wings are mediocre at best but they fill a hole :)

i stopped at tsc on saturday for their opening and was told 66 tons were coming in on monday.energex canadian and some other kind and both at $219.i'm going today to see if they are indeed the canadian brand.hey nailer ,are you still getting your okies from june in berkley and if so how much .i live 2 minutes from the new tsc, about 1 mile north on bay towards easton and bang a left onto plain.i've always been a fan of new england hot dog but not the pellets so much.

COOL. they are open earlier than scheduled. Went by there the other day
and they were still filling up the yard but didn't see any pellets yet.

You can check the Okie price at woodpelletprice.com. June updates them when they change. She is listed under J&S trucking in Berkley.
I believe they are $265 per ton.

Somerset pellets at the Troy, Ohio TSC are selling for $175/ton. The Lowes that sells pellets here also has Somersets but for $5.97/bag but you get $30 off if you buy a ton the manager said.

Cork,

Pass is correct, June at J&S Trucking has Okies for $265 and Dragon's for $275 She has 3 other less priced pellets as well.
I called her last week (love chatting with her).
I'll be stopping there in the next week or so to get a few tons of Okies.

The WoodPelletPrice.com site is a great resource. I found it the other day by accident. :)

Yep- June is easy to chat with.
Are they offering delivery now? They did not before but noticed the woodpelletprice site says
they do on their last update. Guess I will have to give her a call to find out. ;-)

went to tsc again today to see if the got they energex canadian in.they had both the appalacian and lignetics in stock but no energex.they have 66 tons of each and all are $219 per ton.they are expecting 88 mor ton of another brand to be delivered monday 4th and the guy said they're the energex brand.he also said the appalacian were delivered by energex and that they were an energex brand pellet.we never see prices like that around here for pellets.i've tried the ligs before and didnt like them.never seen the appalacian around here and havn't heard much about them so i'll wait a few more days to see what arrives on the truck monday before getting my supply of 3 ton.hey nailer,if you do happen to try a few bags of the appalacians, please let us know how they burn.we have pretty much the same stove

So in an effort to gain swine status this year :)

I started off picking up the first of 4 tons for this heating season at the new TSC in Taunton, Ma.

I made a mistake they are not Appalachian pellets they are Premier Pellets from Appalachian Hardwood. I mis-read the label the other day.
I didn't even notice until I was stacking them in my basement. Appalachian Hardwood is prominently displayed on the front of the bag. My mistake. I hope I didn't cause anyone heartburn. If I did I'll buy you a hot dog at the Hot Dog place in the TSC/BJ's parking lot. :)

The price was $219/ton. The store just opened Saturday and they had a bit of an issue figuring out how to charge for "so many" bags of pellets at once. The manager straightened it out and loaded my truck with no problems. I think I'm going to like having a TSC down the street from the office.

The pellets were dry and shrink wrapped over a pallet cover. Not one damaged bag until I put my thumb through 2 of the bags while unloading. The bags are very plasticy to the touch, almost have a brittle feeling to them. I'm used to more of a vinyl stretchy feeling in a pellet bag.

The two bags I punctured gave me a chance to peek at the pellets. They are fairly dark in color and a bit shiny. Didn't feel like any fines in the bag and didn't see any when I looked inside the open bags. The bags had an airy feel to them almost like there was too much room in the bag for the volume of pellets in it. The bags whistled as I moved them around unloading them and stacking them in their temporary home in my laundry room.

The best part of the shopping trip was that I ran into Tinkabranc in the TSC store. We exchanged hellos. Good to meet someone else from the site.

Sorry for the misinformation on the brand.

Hey it was great to meet you too Nailer! Always cool to run into another hearth.com member.

Have not seen pellets this low in price around this area for so many years I had to take
a pic of TSC's first load. I also picked up a couple of bags of the Premier to try out.

after doing a little research i found a post from jay on "what brands are the same or rebagged" and the premiers are produced by energex for tsc

Family farm and home in Richmond Michigan has pellets for $189 a ton.

They also have 40# bags of cherry pits for 3.99 a bag.........I never burned these before so I bought a bag. anyone ever burn them?
also bought a few bags of pellets for 3.99 bag..........I basically burn 95% corn and mostly use the pellets to start the fire.

Corn at Brown City elevator is $175 a ton, plus $10 to deliver.
be getting a couple of tons within the next two weeks.....burned 12 tons last year.

200 bags and you haven't burned any nor has a report been been made about the quality....you sir are a brave man.

If you look in Tinkabranc's picture of the pallet stacks. That front left corner pallet/ton came home with me last night.

Gives me a total of 61 40# bags on hand in the house. 50 Premier's, 11 Okanagans.

Next week I will be picking up a pallet of Okies from June at J&S in Berkley if the weather is dry enough to get them home.

Scott, My stove is not picky about what it burns. I used to burn Narragansett Pellets in it with no issues. They were referred to as "Dirt in a bag" I think that RI factory now makes Infernos. I have also succesfully burned Bayou's, Freedom Fuel, Currans, and a few other "less than premium" pellets. With local HHO running at $2.60 a gal this week these will fill in the early/late season well.

I only plan on burning the Premier's for the shoulder seasons. Once real heat is needed I will be all Okies.

Thanks,
---Nailer---

Hey Nailer, Where in the park do you work? My wife works up on J. Hancock (snicker) Rd and I used to work over on J. Quincy.

P.S. I also am a Turner.

WoodPorn,

I sent you a PM
