Hello All,
Was at the Deerfield, NH fair today and saw these two devices I thought y'all would like. Both were belt-driven off old, very old, engines. Interesting demographic we have up here: a section of 10 or so old running motors (that's it, just old running motors) captivated an audience all day!

those are old hit-n-miss engines. I have a John Deere one. Mine's a little smaller than the one in your picture. It's a John Deere Type E and is rated at 1.5hp

Must be like our Old Gas Tractor Association. There is a big show every summer and it draws thousands. Strangely, we live only 5 miles from it and have never attended.

Good thing... it saved you from having to fight the urge to cut the legs off that old vertical splitter so that you could use it sitting down. %-P

Just got back from the fair. Its worth it just to see the carnies in their natural habitat.

If you live within 5 miles of the Buckley show and haven't gone you are REALLY missing something. I go every year. I'm not into the tractors and steam engines as much but I love to watch the saw mill, shingle mill, chainsaw collections, and all the old equipment the old timers used for working with wood and metal. They have a complete saw mill operating and it's really interesting to see them turn logs into useable lumber in such a short time. You can see lots of OLD chainsaws, boat motors, and miniature that these craftsman's have built to scale. Every year I see something different that amazes me.

We went up to the fair on Thursday and watched them splitting, boy it looked like a good way to loose a couple of fingers or worse, but it did do a nice job. Never did get to see the cordwood saw running.

No, I've not been to that one either. We live near the show that is west of Chesaning. I think both shows this year were the same weekend. Most like it better if they are on different weekend because then they can attend both shows.

btw, I know there are over 500 members of the club here but don't know how many Buckley has.
