Met a friend I used to work with at the soccer game last night and he mentioned having to have 2 big white oaks taken down in his yard. They have been standing dead a few years and he was gettin nervous about them. He said I could have all I wanted as he wanted it gone asap. I got 3 truckloads today and there is 3 or 4 more still there. He has told others so I figured I'd wait a few days and see if anyone else wanted any before I went back. Oh yeah, forgot to add that it is already cut up, with most into ready to split size and some others needing to be halved. There's a few truckloads that are 36" thru that will have to be cut but it's free wood and I got a saw. Cleaned up and stacked several piles of small limbs for him before we left. Anyway, here's some pics.

How much cord wise will I have after I split it?

Rob

You waited to see if anyone else wanted some? I'm still trying to mull that over in my head.....

White oak is good stuff. Smells like whiskey!

Should dry out pretty quickly since it's been dead for 2 years.

That's just crazy talk.

Git over there and load up!

If it were closer, I'd go get it.

Good hardwood already cut to correct lengths I'd be there at night with flashlights in the rain if I had to.
First come first served.

I agree. If they wanted it bad enough they would have gotten it already. The guy wants it gone ASAP, get over there and get every last bit of it before somebody else finally drags their lazy butt off the couch to get it... White oak is good stuff... i would get all that I could.

What they said. Go get it!! You snooze, you loose. That is good stuff. You can't get much better than standing dead Oak.
