I am seeing that the Harman Advance now burns corn or at least a 50-50 mix. I am wondering if that is for new Harman Advance stoves or for all that were ever made? I have had a Harman Advance noe for about 3 years. Would these units have to be retro-ftted or can they now burn corn? Thanx.......-Rick

you can burn corn in that stove, 50-50. you may have to tweak the feed rate down a bit depending on the corn quality. they've always been able to do it, nothing really that different from the old to the new units.

Thanks Delta-T.....I was not sure. I am also wondering if corn is any cheaper that pellets. I guess I have to search around.

Around here corn is a little cheaper only if you buy it at the feedmill or co-op, and you usually have to provide your own container or pay extra for bags.
Some downsides that I have noticed about corn:
100lb bags are difficult to handle
Attracts rodents
Tons of dust
Clinkers

I think corn is a lot more of a hassle to deal with, so I pay the little extra for pellets.

Nother downside:
No easy way to check the moisture content, either...

Thanks all.....I have 2 tons of pellets being delivered tomorrow. I have a hard enough time storing them now let alone corn. I was just curious if it was worth burning. I guess I will give it a shot once I go through the 2 tons of pellets if the price is right. If I was back home in the Finger Lakes I wouldn't have any problem. Tons of corn at my Uncle's price.
